they work ok if kept in a dark drawer but they dont come near a milo tin for freshness in the long term

That's complete rubbish. By what mechanism do you propose the 'mason milo tin' maintains freshness longer than a completely sealed glass jar?

Mason jars using the corresponding gasket and lid are 100% airtight. If not, the entire canning process, for which they were designed, would be impossible.

I'll concede that a mason jar is not the best choice if you drop them on the floor but that's not a concern for most people.

Out here in the desert you have to have completely air tight containers or your bud will dry out in hours. Mason jars are the gold standard for keeping your bud fresh when the relative humidity drops into single digits.

Cannabis should stay greasy for years out in the open. Cannabis is not consumed fresh, it is a climacteric crop requiring drying and curing in an oxygenated environment. Growing poor quality Cannabis and substituting lipids (that break down into cannabinoids and flavors via respiration) with water is a trend as new as state legalization.

Every time I meet a grower with glass jars I make them rub the inside of the jar with their finger. Smells like under the sink of the cheapest motel in town.. Always.. People be jarring up wet weed, pretending it's greasy, not burping that shit, and thinking they need new gadgets and tricks to replicate 20th century quality.. What people need to do is accidentally realizing sealing your shit up stops cellular respiration in its tracks, stopping the ripening process completely.
