i just dont know why we all got huge collelctions of mason jars, when i/ve notice the weed i stored in tins is fresher
What is the sealing mechanism for the lids of these tins, just out of curiosity? Are they treaded, is there rubber or silicone involved? Totally unfamiliar with Milo, or Milo tins.

not this again :wall: its just a steel can with a tight fitting steel lid, so no glass or plastic
Hey man you asked, LOL.
If there is no sealing surface then a Milo can cannot compare to a Masson jar. It's far easier to block light from entering a clear container than to stop oxygen from entering a container that doesn't seal.
But to each their own, and I'm a big proponent of reusing packaging.

oh man :wall:
bro it seals better than a mason jar, if it didn't seal properly the coffee/milo would go off

What are the Differences between Milo and Ovaltine? Milo is a chocolate malt beverage, while Ovaltine is a milk chocolate flavored malt beverage. The Milo is made with malt and milk while Ovaltine is sweetened with sugar and has no malt. Milo also contains caffeine while Ovaltine does not.
.

I guess the caffeine comes from/is naturally occurring in the cocoa powder Milo uses(there's not a lot). Not sure why the cocoa powder in Ovaltine doesn't have caffeine, caffeine sounds like an improvement to me.

It has an expiration date so it does go off/lose freshness, and info online states to use it up within eight weeks after opening. That lid is pressed on using pressure, the reason they are sealed from the factory is because under pressure the metal of the tin is malleable and the metal surfaces are pressed together into the same shape. Once you open it that metal-to-metal friction seal will never go back together the same as it was, That's why you are supposed to use it within a certain period of time after opening. The malleability of rubber and silicone allows it to be pressed together to form an airtight seal over and over again, metal not so much. According to their own packaging, these tins are not really designed to keep their contents fresh very long after opening. I mean eight weeks is nothing.
You can even buy improved reusable lids for Mason jars that work even better than the ones that come from Mason/Ball. https://masonjarlifestyle.com/product/leak-proof-food-safe-silicone-sealing-lid-liners-regular-mouth-mason-jars/

Doesn't matter to me personally I think you should do you, and I think it's cool that they use packaging that can be repurposed. But you asked so that's my opinion. I hope my response comes across as friendly because that's how I mean it. It's badass that you're willing to try something different, so if it works for you who cares what I or anyone else thinks?
I've used Three castles tobacco tins from England for years for pot tins, but I never 100% trusted them to be airtight. Have fun!

It unequivocally does not.

Use a coffee can or whatever you choose for storage; but repeating the same disinformation doesn't make it any more valid.

A mason jar has a gasket and lid specifically designed to be, and is, completely airtight.

you can lead a horse to water

the tins are air tight and light proof, you guys keep all your hard work in glass jars if you want (that smash when dropped)
they work ok if kept in a dark drawer but they dont come near a milo tin for freshness in the long term
i still have a few, i just use the tins for the best buds now and the jars are for the popcorn buds

i dropped a tin of weed off my bed onto a tiled floor the other day and nothing happened, no pile of glass and weed to sweep up like b4 if i had a mason jar out

so i dont know about where yall live but here, basically i have two types of weather really hot and dry summers that removes any kind of moisture in the buds if not protected, then winter is wet wet wet as we dont get snow here its just bud destroying if not kept in airtight containers
so last year i started to notice the tins were giving me the terps i wanted after a few months stored away, just trying to share the info

I vacuum seal in 1 L mason jars, two years later fresh as they day they went in...

When I dip in I take out a weeks worth and put that into smaller glass jars. Then revac the parent jar..

Fresh bud all the time....

Cheers
Exactly how I do it.

Though, once the Mrs gets through the can of milo, I’ll chuck some buds in and test the @bursto tech. Haha
