Take religion away, all of it, completely away. These people no longer have reasons in their minds that justify these insane actions. Other people in positions of power can't use these reasons to manipulate the people that believe them. It's a lot harder to manipulate an educated person than it is a gullible one.

Take it all away and the justification for threatening someones life falls on the responsibility for each individual to be held accountable for their own actions. It is what we should strive for.

A crusade against religion? I'd call it a second enlightenment.
:peace:
I disagree with taking away religion, on the grounds of the initiation of force upon others. I would agree that defending against the forceful INFLUENCE of religion upon those who do not subscribe to that particular religion, or any religion is a good thing. However, taking away ALL religion is the flip side of the same intolerance coin that religious zealots use to beat nonbelievers with thru THEIR religion.

If your sentiment is that many religions rely upon fantasy, fear and irrational behavior, I agree with you that they do.
I believe eventually religions fade as their practitioners become exposed to other things that make more sense.
I also agree that many religions have done a considerable amount of harm to people, BUT that some have also done some good.

I used to be a Pastafarian, but recently my friends and I discovered the REAL TRUTH. Our new religion centers around a jolly old elf, sort of like Santa Claus, but instead his suit is green and he goes by Weeda Claus. As we learn more abut him we intend to spread the word.
I imagine we will ask people if they have been saved and if they haven't we will immediatey proffer a baptism of Weeda Claus approved and blessed smoke. Or maybe will just say, "hey wanna smoke a joint" ? Someday the question may not be can you draw Mohammed, but instead can you draw Weeda Claus ?

one excuse is as good as another. take away the justifications that religion gives and others will be found to take its place. the soviet union, essentially a religionless nation, found plenty of reasons to perform various abominations, justifying them with a belief system based on totally secular ideologies that took the place of religious mania.
You took the words right outta my mouth.

Pad is very headstrong and intelligent, a dangerous mix! lol! He seems to be stuck in this fantasy that religion is the root of all evil and if you take it away humanity will somehow be fixed. I disagree 100% with his assertion. Here is a good example of what I mean:

The govt. has put limits on the amount of pseudoephedrine a person can buy in an attempt to stop domestic meth production. It has had a huge impact on the number of small, homegrown meth operations. Now we have meth coming across our border to the south, being turned out in mass quantities in large factories. It is more potent and more dangerous than ever. It is also more plentiful and cheaper than ever. Unintended consequences my friend. By trying to fix a perceived problem, the govt. has made things far worse. Now people can't buy allergy medicine but can go out and get a bump any time they wish. Get rid of religion, but beware of what takes its place. :fire:

To be clear, I'm not advocating government intervention or regulation of religion, nothing like that. I just used that as a hypothetical scenario to think about.

Lately I've been seeing a lot of people talk so much shit about science and education because it goes against what religions preach. Actively advocating dumbing down the population. This is unacceptable to me, it's the main reason the shit keeps going in a cycle like it's been going and so many generations of people don't get the educations they deserve. With an educated population, outlawing religion wouldn't be necessary, people would just think past it, the dogmatic aspect of it, blind faith, belief without evidence, etc. they would see past all the negative side effect religion offers and focus on the valuable things they could learn from it. Today, what we have is 90% of people who claim a belief in a higher power do it because everyone else does it, it's the norm, it's what they've known their whole life. Hardly anyone questions it, and the ones who don't, who just follow it because of those reasons the 90%, allow the negative side effects to reach the surface of society by simply being an active member in the cult. Why do these people believe it's the right thing to do? Like I mentioned earlier, how could someone misinterpret a message so much it would lead the majority of other believers of the exact same faith to condemn it as insane? How could that happen? Take Islam as an example - the bottom line is when it comes to absolutes, the only thing that matters is what the God you believe in says is right. Human morality, what your conscience is telling you is right and wrong doesn't come into play because you're a sinful human being with sinful nature, and your conscience is wrong, not God, under all circumstances.

Here's a question - What if everyone lost faith? Would that mean God would have failed?

Drawing cartoons of Muhammad offends all Muslims, not just the radicals. Just as posting a cartoon that depicts the whole of islam as terrorists as with the cartoon The face of Muhammad is lumping all Muslims together.

Who has their panties in a bunch here. Not me. I simply point out that you are disrespecting all muslims with your depictions. Not just radicals.

Ignore him bro. He's an agitator that likes to start arguments over the internet..............:dunce:
The pot calling the kettle black. You are the one who posts calling people conspiracy nuts, Aren't you?
You think you are above it all and yet you are just what you imply.
IMHO drawing pics of Muhammad is like making fun of Martin Luther King or Ceasr chavez to show the crips or Nortenos whats what/.
If you don';t like my arguments then don't pay attention to them. Do as you just said and ignore me. By posting your little pic you just showed you are nothing more than a Sophomoric hypocrite.

That's right new guy. I do call people conspiracy nuts when they constantly make threads about chemtrails, illuminotti and freemason conspiracies, elvis is still alive, CIA kills JFK, Polish prez killed by Russian goons, etc. I call 'em like I see 'em. My point about you is that every thread I see you in you are arguing with somebody. Get a clue pal.:dunce:

I'm done with you so respond if you want but I won't. ;-)

Muslims in America (esp. Revolution Muslim) are angered at something granted by the very same right that allows them to freely practice their religion - irony

I recognize the absurdity however this is one event I will not be partaking in simply because I do not see how it will benefit anyone

I agree. I joined because I was going to draw a picture. After dialogueing with several very cool Muslims I decided that I would not draw but would remain as a member in solidarity of our right to do so.

I just posted on the page that I will not draw a picture of Mohammed because I do not wish to hurt muslims.
After reading a few of the posts from both sides. I had to realize that there is no point in being an ass and drawing a picture to simply hurt them . I also stated that I have joined the group because I support a persons right to do so. I detest racists but would defend a racists right to his racist views and the right to stand on a street corner with a sign stating his views.
good to see you read deeply into the arguments then. LOL. you don't think that's it's maybe possibly to do with the fact that americans and others alike, are being threatened with death and masacre for mocking islam. we have EVERY RIGHT to mock islam if we wish, EVERY RIGHT, that it what this is largely about... not purely about hurting them, sheeeeeesh

What about my post did you not understand?
I fully support our rights to free speech as was Plainly posted. further I plainly posted that I am a member in support of those who draw a caricatures right to do so. AS far as my personally drawing a picture of Muhammad I fail to see how my personally drawing a picture further mocking Islam will solve anything except to disrespect Moderate muslims who have done no wrong to me. If you choose to draw a picture then please feel free to do so as is your right but don't try to act as though I am wrong for not wishing to disrespect moderate muslims by not doing so.
And even further. The page is really a Bullshit fallacy in regards to FREE SPEECH. They delete any comments that do not fall into lockstep with their agenda. MANY, MANY people have complained that their comments are being deleted because thay do not agree with the premise of the page. Even my comments that fully support their right to free speech but opting to not draw Muhammad are deleted.
The page is less about free speech and more about drawing muhammad to shove it in the faces of Muslims. .IMHO.
