MedPot Now Danger!

RSO is archaic and there are much better forms of medicine out there now. I recommend a decarboxilyated Amber Oil that has been vac purged.
Not to be a stickler, but just so its known. When decarbing oil it is not necessary to vacuum purge your oil, vac purging is used to remove solvent residuals but the decarbing processes requires one to heat the oil to temperatures well above those required to remove all solvents. One should be observing their oil when decarbing and will notice the solvent bubbles are different than the co2 bubbles which form as a result of the decarb process, one determines the state of the decarbing oil by observing the rate of co2 bubble formation. Solvent bubbles will form and dissipate before co2 starts to form.

When wanting to keep your oil in carboxylated form a vacuum purge is nice.

Sooooooo people are saying to use Amber Oil, BHO etc.... instead. But why are their so many forums on RSO if it's such an "archaic" method now? I can't even find how to dose with Amber/BHO as opposed to RSO which is clear, 1/2 a grain of rice sized oil drop until you can manage a grain sized piece. Is it simply a dosage thing or is there more to why people are still using RSO in syringes as opposed to Amber etc?

i'd go with the RSO. you know about it and it works. there are several methods and you can spend tons of money.
i know it works as my wife uses it and doesn't take any pharma pain meds now.
the video is bad because of his using the containers and so on. i use iso when i make it and it works just great. I am sure you can do more but that's your choice. i read Rick now has a closed loop system. i am still going with the rice cooker...it works

RSO = Decarbed Cannabis Oil, the method and colour are secondary.

If Rick has a closed loop system does anyone think the end product is not RSO?

Ideally the product used for RSO is the same grade as what people sell and use as quality smoking oil, but when shatter and wax are selling for double to quadruple the price of a syringe of RSO one has to wonder why the RSO is so much cheaper? Purging a patty vs decarbing it does not add $30 - $75 to a single gram of medicine.

If one chose to do the Amber Oil/BHO route (which I assume is decarbed by the process) could one INJEST it? I'm pretty certain it's important to orally consume the medicine for it to be effective for cancer treatment. RSO is like a tar and easily digestible, the other extracts are more solid and made for smoking or vaporizing more so than for oral consumption. Could one just eat it too?

if the product is for smoking ..it IS NOT decarbed and therefore, not as good as it could be for cancer patients.
You'r better off buying herb and making it yourself..its cheaper that way.
Even Better yet!!
Grow some and make it.
It's the best way!
:-D

No, BHO can be ingested also but it would need to be decarbed. RSO is pretty much already decarbed because of the heat used to evaporate the solvent.
Would it have to be decarbed PRIOR to production or could it be done after final product, say, by the user at home by heating it up etc...

here's a video. i would use ISO instead of Naptha. i haven't had much luck getting good quality. you can get some from Canadian Tire but i don't trust that.

Well...drying buds is decarbing but some will argue dryed is not fully decarbed.

When I make BHO I let my raw materials get very dry. But you could make BHO from buds that are still wet.

Right Jedi... if the bud is dried 100%. It's said to be decarbed naturally. Decarboxilation happens naturally over time ...heat just speeds up the process.
Most people need to realize the pot needs to be dry. Some dry their fresh herb in the oven Some Decarb it afterward as it guarantees anything inactive becomes active. Why not do the best job you can do....??
bho is a wee bit more dangerous and twice as expensive done the correct way, closed loop and vac over.
the main point is that its not decarbed.
ISO is safer to make by comparison and you don't need a vac or closed loop. A small still would help though
Just DO IT ALL OUTSIDE and there will never be any issue.
BHO done wrong outside can get you in trouble in a hurry. Just to volatile for making meds and its not needed.

So people telling me to use Amber Oil etc... are just plain wrong because it's never truly decarbed?

you talk about amber oil...
Its just a color is all
could be green could be yellow could be gold...
If you make qwiso it will be amber in color when done, does that help? even after its decarbed it will be amber in color.
It just wont be the best tasting smoke because it's for ingesting purposes and why it's decarbed.

You can do qwiso at room temp but it will strip some of the chlorophyll out of the plant and turn your meds green. Another issue I think as well is that saturating a solution with something you want, rather than saturating a solution with something you don't wan make sense. It leaves more more room for the meds.
I could be wrong. :)

I didn't quite say that  It could be but I dont see why you'd make meds this way seeing the expense ...

now if you're talking about smoking the shit...GO ALL OUT..BHO !!!! :)

Right, it could be decarbed. Hmmmm, maybe I'll just risk my lack of cooking skills and general hands-on clutzyness and make it myself.
