Fungus gnats like constant wet environments right??
Yes, correct. But the issue is coco works best when kept hydrated, you don't want to let it dry out. Frequent fertilization is best with coco, so you need to break the pest growth cycle.
Well, what @Kaoic says is in a way true however. He just doesn't realize I think with that grow method and medium I didn't leave much choice.
A moist surface with a high carbon source (coco coir) attracts fungi which in turn are the favorite meal of gnat flies. But unfortunately the fact is that the entire grow method of manual flow-through watering of nutes everyday in coco creates this welcoming environment. Hey I gave it a shot for a couple cycles, but it's not for me. That's when I finally said back to organic for indoors too! lol
That's where mosquito dunks save the day! It is just beneficial bacteria that kills the larvae and juvenile gnats. You break up the little 'donuts' and pop it into the coco an inch or two down, and every time you water it slowly releases the bacteria into the medium. I tried everything else, this did the trick for me.

That’s the spirit! With the grow method your right but the medium doesn’t matter, as long as the medium is able to retain water and the water is draining correctly it is fine, you want fungi in your soil along with good bacteria, they help the plant take in nutrients like the others living in the soil.

Coco and soil are totally different man. Like I said do more research before giving advice, lol.

And I know what your saying coco coir likes to be wet ya ya ya every soil likes to be wet rofl, and no soil likes to be bone dry, constant wet environments invite fungus gnats with weed plants. Agree?

You mean organic or hydro? Anyway, I've been doing organic no-till now indoors for a few years, and organic amendments for a few years before that. The coco experience occurred in 2004 or before that even. When you get old like I am, you forget. Lol

I always did organic outside though, including the entirety of the small farm I had that I was taking through certification transition in Annapolis Valley, NS.

Organic, hydro lacks life lol.

Fungus gnats prefer and reproduce best in moist conditions and an abundance of decaying vegetations and or fungi. Good drainage and allowing the surface of the container to dry out can help reduce population pressure. Heavy organic feeds can also produce an environment conducive to fungus gnat reproduction.

Go start your own thread to talk about fungus gnats. Leave the poor OP's thread alone, lol.

Hmmm... not to mention the OP has all those mites, but is not complaining about gnat flies. Hmmm... wonder why that is? ;)

We just need to watch our plants. If they're having a good time, then so should we!
Those mites are actually good for the soil lol, unless they are russet hemp mites then no, plus you’ll see hemp mites on branches and leaves where they reside, those mites in the soil deep are good for decomposition of organics.

Well your stating I’m wrong so im just proving you wrong buddy, you live and you learn.
You're a lost cause man. I know fungus gnats prefer moisture. There are ways around it though. Mosquito Bits, or predators. He already has hypoaspis miles mites that will have any fungus gnats gone in days. But Bti bacteria will work too.

I grow in no-till living organic soil, so I keep my soil moist and I haven't seen a gnat since I bought the FFOF 2 years ago. I used the FFOF for the base. Anyways, move on man. I don't wanna hi jack his thread anymore with nonsense.
