Those quotes have characterized his movement and have obviously become the adopted views of his acolytes. I can post here some quotes by some of the staunchest berniebros on RIU to confirm this observation and to add credence to the very relevant point @Fogdog is making.

The very fact of Chump in office is the best thing that's happened to the Left in America in my lifetime.
So you tell me.... did the black community vote against their own self interests in 2016?
I feel much more is expected of me because of my skin color than other people. I'm white... Same thing with being male.

I'll make a wild guess and say all those bills were introduced by Republicans, you know, the freedom party lol.
Some attacks on freeze peach were carried out by the Obama administration. I personally thought some of the measures were hilarious at the time such as the Lois Lerner thing or those state AGs that tried to silence climate change denial. There are a few other examples and also some pretty heavy handed example-setting regarding whistleblowers.

So why didn't you quote the whole post?
I wouldn't call it discrimination, but standards are definitely set differently for different races. I feel much more is expected of me because of my skin color than other people. I'm white so that means there are no obstacles other than my own work ethic in my way to success. Same thing with being male.

Imo, economic class is a better indicator of discrimination, race is just a coincidence
You can't argue a single rational point without taking something out of context, smearing, or using personal attacks. It highlights the weakness of your positions

See, smear tactics because you're incapable of defending your weak positions
So yeah, Bernard is really not a leftist at all. Some of his policies veer slightly left of center but mostly, they are slightly to the right.
Sanders is the most progressive congressman in the US at the moment, all of his policies reflect that
  • raising the minimum wage
  • free college
  • universal healthcare
  • non interventionist foreign policy/military industrial complex
  • domestic infrastructure spending (new New Deal focused on green technology)
  • climate change
  • the war on drugs/private prison industrial complex
  • paid vacation/paid maternity leave
  • raising taxes on the top earners and corporations
  • womens health
  • civil rights
Point to which one(s) "are slightly to the right". Guaranteed he's more progressive than whoever you support, but you're too cowardly to name names because it would expose you as the massive hypocrite you are
He does not in any capacity advocate any diminution of privatization in regards to economics.
That's not what makes someone progressive
He therefore is a capitalist liberal. He is not a leftist.
He's a democratic socialist and a progressive
Then consider some of the social positions of his followers and their aversion to acknowledging minority struggles for equality, their pattern of being offended by idpol and you have just another group of fake ass leftists.
It's been demonstrated multiple times by each Sanders supporter on this forum exactly how you and your group of friends twist words and take quotes out of context. An example is in this very post. You never debate/discuss policy because you lose on policy and you know it. Sanders has one of the highest NAACP ratings in congress, nearly all of his policy positions benefit minorities more than white people which is probably why he gets higher approval ratings from blacks and hispanics than he does among whites. If what you claim is true, and all the Sanders supporters on RIU are as racist as you say, we wouldn't support him. See how that works?

You are smearing the most progressive politician in the country whose policy positions benefit POC and minorities the most..

..maybe you're racist

Bernie on minority and other issues:

"people are tired of political correctness rhetoric", Benie Sanders, Dec. 2016
"I'll work with people who are anti choice". Women's reproductive rights are negotiable if Bernie gets what I want.
"Universal Health care is not a litmus test"; Bernie bros still believe it is. They aren't listening to what he really is saying
"Kick social justice warriors to the curb"; Ok, so Bernie didn't say that. It IS rhetoric coming from your bros.

Economic issues don't address issues of the Black Lives Matter movement. Nor do they address the issue of racism in the work force where African Americans, Hispanic Americans and women are paid 20% less than men. Kicking social justice warriors to the curb is all about making uncivil speech and actions against minorities and women acceptable.

Bernie isn't running for an office right now, by the way. He is pumping up for a run for the WH and it's not anything like your imagined movement. He's better than Trump.
Then why do you say you support him?

It's not like he changed your quote, like some intellectually dishonest member we all know.

No, I asked:

WHY DON'T YOU EXPLAIN WHAT YOU MEANT WHEN YOU SAID MORE IS EXPECTED OF YOU BECAUSE YOU'RE A WHITE GUY?
I'm white so that means there are no obstacles other than my own work ethic in my way to success. Same thing with being male.

Imo, economic class is a better indicator of discrimination, race is just a coincidence

SO PEOPLE EXPECT LESS FROM WOMEN AND MINORITIES?

That's fucking racist. Race is just a coincidence? So the centuries of racial oppression against every single other race by white folks like you had nothing to do with social conditions today? All the generations of people who were victims of your white race from slavery to genocide, which built the economy, that's all just coincidence that they just happened to not be white? All that success (LEL) you have achieved (sorry, having trouble keeping a straight face) is due to your work ethic and not simply attributable to Western society fearing you. Come to think of it, despite all that privilege you deny, you sure never accomplished shit did ya?

Then again, racism correlates with stupidity so maybe that's why you never amounted to much.

You and your ilk do a disservice to actual POC and minorities who experience real racism every day in America. Call everything racist, eventually nothing is because the word doesn't hold any meaning when it comes out of your mouth

I would say think about that, but you probably do about as much thinking as the Scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz

Nobody is saying you'll have everything given to you in life, only that you have more opportunity and privilege being a white male. It's a fact, get over it.

Thank you for proving my point

Calling progressives racist is a sure proof way to get them on your side in 2020
You're not a progressive, you're a racist pos. We're already not on the same side. I prefer racists to be afraid so I'd probably punch you in the back of the mouth if you started talking. It's not a threat, it would just naturally happen because you can't seem to stop yourself which would leave it to me to stop you.
