Day two of the New Veg Cab, plants are @ 5 weeks from seed.

[They seem to love the LED's, never dropped their leaves until I mite sprayed them in the morning.]

I also have been letting them grow untethered for a few days to stretch and then I am going to cut some clones and then 2 will go into flower, hopefully tomorrow!

These are all unknowns, not bagseed but mix packs from a friend and I have fauk loads of beans.....unreal! I know that Lemon Kush, Stinky Pinky, O Blackberry [503 only] and I don't even want to say it, but a Pitbull cross too...So fingers crossed.
  • kush has been giving me problems outdo's, so let's see if it pops.

Cabs jammed into space, but work.....

Ciao!

Attached is the hood before I installed, not bad for lying around stuff.

Plants are doing well under 50 watts. It's blown my mind actually. These LED bulb's do some work!

I crowd the plants right into the reflector, no burn.

Bought 5 new Cree 2700k Bulbs today. Working on DIY Smart Pots. Weekend has passed and my Flowering Cab #1, still isn't quite ready.

Maybe tomorrow.

Mini-fridge
  • Day 1 of flower? Lights are taken down to 15.5 hrs on. 13 by Monday or so.
  • Still need to tie down, clone and fill in the Diy getto smartpots
  • 5k Potentiometer [overkill, going back to 1k] for Fan Controller [$1.99]
  • Few more bulbs to be added, otherwise it is bright as shit!

cool

nice little micro! you flowering out in the 1 gallons too?
Thanks xmobotx
I made my own own little smart pots in a wire frame, so I could tie the girls down. Just a bit over a gal. maybe 1.25.

The space is tiny 12x16, so I decided for two women this time.

Day 11, pistils starting to show. [Day4 13.5 on/11.5 off]

Watered with a touch of liquid nettle once . Then top dressed with dried nettle leaf, oatmeal and Dia Earth. Going to start mulching with chopped up bamboo [I hate NAKED soil, worst thing you could do to a buddy]

Looking good man. Thinking about incorporating a few LEDs into my cab.
Do it! I have never looked back.

Next cab is about ready to start flowering. I have 4 Cree 2700 SW Bulbs + I am adding 8 of the Phillips 10.5w bulbs with Luxeon LED's in them. Love these LEDs'!

Must get expensive. Do they run cool?
I was going to reply in your Thread. Don't worry about lumens, they mean almost nothing, especially when correlated with nothing else, i.e. spectrum radiation, etc.
Worry more about PAR and LER [even though LER is again based on what the human eye sees, so who give a hoot, the plant isn't human, right, that's partially the 1st flaw?] CRI as well, if you are color blind [like me] primary colors, don't mean a whole lot, and not a indicator of the Strength of the spectrum, nevermind the wavelength [nm]. CRI can also only be used to compare similar color temps, you cannot compare the CRI of a 2700k source to a 3000k source.

The Cree's roughly put out about 35% more PAR than a 26w CFL running at almost 3x the power consumption [light/heat]. So even though I am only running 50w's in my cab, roughly they are putting out about the same intensity of light they were receiving before from 134+ watts of CFL's.

The heatsinks can run a bit hot, but usually never hotter than to the touch. I am impressed.

Look for my bulb reviews in my profile in the LED section [Im going to PHilips Lumileds] and also for Captain Morgan's Cree bulb grow, insane! I will work on the links, I don't have them right at the moment, but a heads-up

^ As far as being expensive, time will tell. CFL with wired up sockets aren't that much of savings. Hell the cheap ass Walmart CFL 2700k Great Value pieces of shit, I used to buy in quantity would sometimes less than 1 week....

So factoring in ALL of the externalities and not having to blast my fans at full speed and not having to rig up a mini-dehumidifier [like before].......price is about the same and I am using less power, so in the long room, I think this will pan out.

Plus I am still in the throes of a DIY LED fixture, so progress will be made hopefully!!
