Basicallly to keep your plant as short as possible keep the lights as close and strong as possible and flower as soon as you get 5 nodes...it could be as short at 6 inches tall, maybe less...with an optimal grow this can be done in 2-3 weeks from putting the seed in...

but would a tall outdoors stain be different? would it need 6-8 weeks veg due to the genetics where as a higher quality strain like LR2 would be 2-3 weeks at 5 nodes?

No, you can flower any strain as early as 3 weeks or as small as 5-6 nodes....

excluding auto flower and clones your not gonna finish faster than 12 weeks...give or take

As to the Aerogarden, its also a good thing to empty and rinse the reservoir every month as the water become toxic to the plants...I grew 24/7 for 6 weeks and then lights were only on 12 hours a day for 10 days...looks like we are just now starting to bud...will let you know what happens .

I don't have any pic's but my AG grow is at about 2 1/2 to 3 weeks. Three of my six are alot bigger than the other three, but they are all the same age. I'm 'bout to have to flower for space sake. Fox Farm nut.'s are the key to the AG's heart, and success. Small Hps for when I start flowering. Later on...

Thats NOT TRUE ..Ive NEVER rinsed my reservoir not once . I use spring water and I have an airstone in it and I fill the reservoir to the brim... , My roots are fine , If you stick your finger inside the res and feel the walls you feel a very light layer of slime . but my plants are just about done . another few days and they will be history

i /stopped fucking with my res too much and got better results.

Well thanks for those good tips on the res. I been changing mine once a week but will immediately swing over to never. My problem is I got one big plant and one small plant. I think the big one is ready to flower (cept I just topped it today and it prob needs like to recover. Right?) I dont think the little one is near ready. It just about 3" tall or so. Due to logistics they can't be flowered separately. I was thinking of trying that LST stuff on big one and hopefully let the little one get caught up somewhut. I went shopping for pipe cleaners yesterday to help bend it over..but couldnt find none. Sure I can find some eventually. Do this sound plausible? Thanks.

If you guys dont rinse or do water changes on the res, how do you know when to add nutes and how much to add ?

I definitely have stunted my group of plants twice w/ nute burn (though im learning quite a lot in this first grow). I am at 6 weeks easy and they are all short/small (though they have 5 levels now).

I would really love to see someone's grow log if they have one through a whole AG grow. Something like dates and nute/water adds and quantities. Maybe i could spot what i have done wrong with mine so far.

Ill post real pics tomorrow morning (these are just from phone), but in case it matters, i have been using 1/2 FoxFarms nutes since week 2 (sometimes breaking in part of an AG tablet for water buffer and putting in just slightly less than half FF), distilled water, an air-stone, a drop of superthrive every change, and recently have been adding 1/2 a teaspoon of epsom salt which seems to have helped just a bit. It is the AG Pro w/ the additional light, and it has mylar around it.

first off ihad real issues in the beginning by over complicating things. checking ppm, ph, trying to be real scientific.

scrapped that approached and tried to simplify.

first off, i pre-mix my res into one gallon containers. after adding the General Hydroponics nutrients and my Hygrozyme, the ph tends to be around 5-6 so i use that. i have some testers, but really only test it once a week.

i also, use the recommended feeding schedule as proposed on the back of the GH bottles of micro, gro, and bloom, as well as the hygrozyme.

if my ph is "out" i have GH PH up and Ph down to adjust.

right now i am into the 3rd week of 12/12 so my feeding is mostly bloom nutes.

ppm- i have a hand held ppm meter but stopped checking so frequently and just trust the GH formula. so far upon checking GH has been spot on.

so to summarize,

ppm tester - good to have
ph test kit with up/down adjust - good to have
correct nutes with guide for feeding schedule - helpful but many users go with AG nutes.

young plants 1/4 dosage
medium plants 1/2-3/4 dosage
mature plants/flowering 3/4 - full dosage,
least thats what i have read here.

check my gallery, you can see some things i have added as well as a sort of growth chart. sorry i am not too anal to right every minute of every day down. did a little of that in the beginning and had a hard time.

i better at winging it and watching the plants. they tell me what they need.
so far nothing but what i am doing for them.

I am hoping that if these guys start pulling through (and they finally seem to be) ill be trying to clone my next ones from the healthiest looking one during flowering.

Can you take your clones right before harvest? It would be nice if i could take my cuttings, and plant them immediately after pulling out the mature plants (and just start 24hour light again)

Well they sure look nice to me. I only managed to bring up 2 out of 7 grow holes. Got one about the size of you biggest ones and one about 3" tall. The roots of the big one have already ensared the airstone so I cant pull it out. I switched over to Pro Blend Bloom yesterday..after getting a hot tip you dont need the grow version. It said to mix it one oz to 5 gallons..I put in 2 cap fulls in the AG Res which was filled to the brim. You reckon that purty close to the right amount? I am also going through a lot of PH up. Every time I think I have used too much it checks about perfect. Nothing like a little gardening on a purty day huh? I topped my big one last night and bent him/her over sideways trying to do the LST thang. Got the main stalk tied to some electric wires with butcher's twine. I have the AG lights and 3 hundred Watt curly tail CFL's in there with it. Flowering is gonna be my weak point cuz I'm just gonna add a couple mo CFL's. I aint going to buy no fancy smancy dope growing lights. That get you on the watch list no doubt. Nice talking with ya.

I'll tell you pick the BEST two and thats it in the aerogarden .. 3 is pushing it ... I did 4 plants but it was tough .. lotta work trimming na light moving . just do two if you can

WELL UNFORTUNATLEY i just pulled two males. my biggest and another small one. i have 4 plants left and i think atleast 2 more are male as well.

to answer your question, 1 oz to 5 gal. 1 oz = ~30ml. so 30ml per 5 gal.
would mean ~6 ml per gal. that might be two capfuls but not sure. get a ppm meter and know for sure how much you put in. also a drug store might carry eye droppers usually in 1ml size.



as far as cfls go, i read that alot of people have good SMALL grows with good yield with only cfls. check the lighting FAQ's around here.

also, 150 hps wall mount security light from lowes or homedepot is better than not.

also look for specific color band cfls reds, blues stuff like that

I have a question guys. How do you check your ppm's? I'm using an aerogarden for my initial growing too, and i'm having some browning of the leaves. i think it's the ph level. any suggestions would be great. thanks.
