My First Ever Grow And It's With An AG

Here's a pic from today and as of today it's been officially 18 days from placing the seeds in the garden pods with no previous germing. So this coming Tuesday will be my official three week mark. I used two small AG nutes for the first two weeks on a 24 hour cycle. Last Tuesday I flushed my garden and added all new water with FoxFarm Tiger Bloom at my 2 week mark. I'm now running them on the strawberry setting which I believe is a 15/9 setting. I've never used epson salt or magnesium just nutes. I've heard great things about CO2 usage though. I tried an unsuccessful attempt at it but maybe you can work it better. Check AG420's grow for CO2 setups.

Good luck

looks good man. keep it up.

i just switched mine to bloom nutes and 12/12 schedule.
4-6 weeks away. illl get some pics up soon

your plants are looking good. do you have any hid lights for flowering in the future?

i have one 70w hps to help as well as the AG light and my other floruos
i know that the hps i have is on the small side but the grow area is <18cubic feet. BUT i could add two more and have one 70 watts on each wall for a total of 210w of hps lighting as well as more side coverage.

still experimenting on this first round. gonna see how things yeild with one.

YongHova,

what is the date from planting on those last pics?

These are mine at close to 3 weeks. There was some slight nute burn, but there are a few plants that look pretty healthy. I am using 1 AG nute tab (to balance PH and stabalize water) and 1/4 Fox Farm schedule. That would be a 1/2 normal nute sched. I havent tried epson salt though. Maybe they need magnesium?

Also, i transplanted a healthier plant from dirt to the AG to replace the really scrawny guy in the back. Its been 3 days since then and it seems to be healthy still. Are these really small for 3 weeks ?

for three weeks not really. thinking you germinated in the AG so that might take a week. seems germination in AG as opposed to other methods is slow.
but they do look healthy and green so have some patience.
i had many slow growth issues and questions, but after using correct nutes and sitting back things have recovered nicely.

give them a week or two and you should notice so much better growth.

also , mod your AG light and lower it closer, AND get an air pump with 4inch stone or a couple 1 inch stones.

i like the 1 inch stones and i run 4. my gallery has pics. i place two off to the sides and in the back and two close to the front.

keep reading and searching, theres MASSIVE INFO on this site.

that should be interesting to see your results unless you make some additions.

i think my HPS will help alot even though it is low watts.

i think most AG and other hydro guys agree that once the roots extend and sit in the resivoir it becomes a different hydro system, a dwc, so technically the pump no longer needs to run and airstones to oxygenate and agitate the res is needed only.

not sure how much your plants are drinking but this morning i topped off and at 7 tonight it was at or just below the "fill to here" line. about 1.5 liters in 24 hours or so.

i believe my airstones help alot, as i have only just turned on my HPS for flowering. have you seen my other update on slow growth? the plants are nice and bushy and a good looking green color even though temp issues still plague me.

the nute burn is from 3-4 weeks ago when they started out but since then none.

love this web site, well ........ when i am not zoned on porn....

Here they are green as ever but I seem to have a runt in the far back left and maybe another in the back middle. Considering weeding em out. Let me know what you think bout my growth.

i got a couple of those as well, runts. i think you should wait a couple more weeks until flower before deciding to weed it out. would be a shame to wack a girl before you know.

if you have big fan leaves from the other ones maybe you could try SELECTIVE trimming to expose the "runts" to some more light.
i have that problem and i plan on trimming tonight.

i'll post some more pics, before and after, but overall for 3 weeks your growth looks good and green and healthy.

oh depending on trimming tactics beware of new growth. side branch trimming encourages height while topping encourages width or girth.:joint:

oh yeah save your clippings in a zip lock and freeze them if possible. then check out some of the other things you can DIY like making hash and stuff.

thats a tough one. i am still a newbie and winging it big time. this is my first ever grow as well.

from what advice/info i have gotten/found on this site,
look at everything from the top. if you cant see what is beneath especially another plant chop the branch that is blocking the plant below it. BUT be SELECTIVE. only chop what you need to for now. i am going by that and some common sense.

i took 5 cuts. i expect the ones i cut to grow tall in the next few days.
while the others will hopefully catch up.

IF i have an issue with growth on the ones i cut then i might top them as well.
like i said, i'm winging it and just using what seems right for me on this first round.

these are the pictures i just took.

the first 2 are a set pre then post then the next 2 pre and post and finally last 2 pre and post.
the last picture is of the group top view. you can see how my biggest ones are taking over and blocking the others. i removed the big fan leaves.

i should have taken another top view but i forgot. i am high:joint:

are you saying that for 4 months you have been growing that thing?

could you be alittle more specific,(not that i want to hijack)?

how long has it been flowering?
have you been just snipping off buds and then letting more grow?
whats up with dat?

I been thinking about trying to take my AG pump plumb out to make room for the roots. Maybe replace it with one of the foot long airstones from Wally World. Wonder how hard it is to remove the pump? You ever tried it? I got mine setting on tomaters and peppas and it dont hardly run none anyway. Think I have heard it come on once. Thanks.

here's what i know. i got a tetra supaquiet 10gph air pump from petco and a 6 inch air stone. hooked it up and ran great except that:
a.) it was a little clumsy getting in and out due to the center post and side supports.
b.)only air bubbles were coming out of 1/4 to 1/2 the stone at best.

i then went back to petco and got 2 - 4inch stones and 4 - inch stones.
some connectors, 4 bank regulator(cheapy) and some hose.

i tried both. for the pump i had bought, two 4 inch stones was still too much. duh. 2 - 4inch stones = 8 inch. pump i bought couldn't handle 1 - 6inch stone.

so one 4iinch stone worked good, but limited placement.
so i opted for the four mini stones on different lengths of hose with the regulator.
in my gallery i have pics. the black thing hanging off the front of my AG with four orange knobs is the air control. think i have pump too. not sure.

AND YES TETRA MAKES BIGGER PUMPS. a 20 gph 40 gph and one bigger maybe 100gph. super quiet pumps. plug and play. oh i got them in the fish department. wally world might have them.

oops, umm, yes you can remove the pump. if you still have your AG instructions it should tell you how to remove, take apart, CLEAN and replace.

i would hang on to it though. you may need it again or could rig it for another setup.

Ok..if I ever get brave enough to try taking out the pump...promise to consult the docs and dont throw it away. Thanks. Had some purty good customer service with the AG folks. When I got mine it had two pieces of plastic floating around so me not knowing whut it was one winded up getting throwed away. Come to find out it some kind strut that spans the res to hold it apart etc. I called and nagged and they sent me two more for no charge.

Honestly i dont know what is going on , this is my first grow and its just really big , it was taller but grew into the ceiling and broke (6ft now) i think i may have flowered too late (march 3rd flowers started) and now i just keep watering and feeding it nutrients hoping the buds get bigger.

plus i switched it lighting 2x , so it went - veg. flowering. veg. flowering again.

sorry to change topics :spew:
