I no longer use brut force with these wasps. It's not necessary. These wasps aren't the poster child for dangerous and bothersome waspsi have some wasp freeze thats a nightmare for those varments.

Whats problematic about parasitic wasps? They are beneficial to the garden. So are paper wasps, but they sting people. My wasps appear to be Paper Wasps AKA: red wasps. They are much less problematic than parasitic wasps. I found info on these and other Texas pests at this site!~~http://insects.tamu.edu/fieldguide/cimg348.html ....this site is run by Texas A&M. A&M Is a good source on Texas plants and insects! If I only could study it there - I wouldn't get in academically!
Plus here's a pic of a young, active paper wasp starting new nest!
Probably nothing. I saw a video of a parasitic wasp injecting larvae into caterpillars and I thought of my monarch butterfly caterpillars.....I'm reading that wasps are benefitial! I guess these can be benefitial, too....even if it appears that the caterpillar gets a raw deal! Such is life, tho!Whats problematic about parasitic wasps? They are beneficial to the garden. i can dig it.^^^^ Extreme cases call for extreme actions. I use a chemical stump killer when I need to kill an invasie vine. It's the only thing that works. A couple gallons of 20% vinegar + a few ounces of orange oil just won't do it......
Being organic doesn't mean I think these chemicals shouldn't exist, on the contrary, keep the ones that are relatively safe to use when needed - and then pass laws to ban to worst chemical fertilizer/herbicide/insecticides that are out there. Minimize the risk to the environment and people while using less of it. Use it when you need it. Don't just stock up on chemicals to have around! LOL!
That's the way I see it!!
That was an interesting video.I've got some Cicada Killers at my house and I never bother them cuz I'd be stung pretty bad....BUT, if i'm cool to them and don't show aggression, they will let me watch them pretty close. It's crazy what these guys do....I guess I don't care much about the cicadas cuz I've got tons of them! The cicada season is about to start and my Cicada Killers are getting ready for it! Last yr I watched them catch cicada after cicada! The female will inject its larvae into it and then the famale will drop them between cracks in my patio....drops them to a shaded spot below! Down there, the cicada will die and the larvae will have a food source! I'm gonna get some pics of them again this yr! I don't know why I would worry about a parasitic wasp when these Cicada Killers are RELENTLESS towards these cicadas! I'm mean, these guys will kill over 40 cicadas this yr!
