NUG>>when my grandma was around grandpa had a stash in the shed...grandma smoked into her 90's before leaving us! Big long cigarette holder full of resin!! Hope all of you apreciate the generation before you! and before that!! Maney came before us and did similar just couldn't speak about it!! I grew up on a dairy and saw it growing before ever knew what "grampa's Indian tobacco" was!) guess just carring on the age old quest for mother nature's bounty! Enjoy the grow all!! jack

I think I may have mentioned this before, I am not sure which I prefer... I like fems because I can plant one seed at a time, and if it grows I already know it is fem...I like reg seeds because I can have more seeds...I like seeds because I can leave them in a drawer til I want them...unlike feminized strains I already have popped..the fact that they must be kept alive for me to keep running the strain...then again I guess that is what people do with reg seeds...so if you work with a lot of reg seeds you weed out the males, but do you also take out the females that aren't that great... I don't think I have really cloned a plant from reg seed...If I need seeds then I will leave a male or 2, but if I have hundreds of seeds of a strain then I just grow out the females and the rest is history...so I guess the idea is to pop the reg seeds and look for a special female and just keep cloning her like a fem plant? That kinda sux... I guess I haven't really been terribly "artful" In my habits...Then again the only thing I have in mind is keeping my mason jars from running empty...I guess I will actually pheno hunt with my JIllybeans----nah...I'll just keep growing the seeds unless one plant just speaks to me...I am tired of clones and cloning, and bugs, and soil, and pots, and mold, and blah blah blah... I recently stopped taking an antidepressant, so I am feeling a little ehhh--- about everything at the moment...but reg seeds and fem seeds are both seeds that grow cannabis, and that makes them both alright in my book...

Good topic.

I used to be really down on fem seeds until I popped a few freebies from attitude ... and DAMN, I was blown away by a couple of them! Pleasant surprise to say the least.

Like others have mentioned, I kinda like the process of sexing, and pheno hunting so I buy only reg seeds. Living in a medical state, I do understand the dilemma of plant count, so in that regard fem seeds do have their place.

same here trying to make the switch away from cloning without too much cash spent on seeds. i love clones but seeded plants can yeild so much more and the fucken mites will stay away.

Well, at the moment I think I might like fem seeds better... Started my first TGA, went with Jilly Bean...
Only got a 5 pack cuz I'm broke...
All 5 are male...
All 5 plants are all male...
So, I guess I will plant my 5 Qrazy Train...and hopefully at least one will be female...so I will just have to have JIlly bean x Qrazy Train... Since it appears as though the plants are all bred from a similar plant it should work out alright...but kinda sux.
If all 5 of the Qrazy Train seeds are male then I quit!
Quit!

All 5 male...
sux

But u can homey,It starts at germenation cooler temps always give me female...and for some reason it is a male..its a true keeper
I keep my grow area super cold, because when I sleep I like it to feel like a meat freezer...keeps us young perhaps...
I know that the temp can't have too much to do with male ratios...I have used reg seeds a couple of times before...usually only 5 at a time, I usually get a 2/3 split in favor of females...have also gotten 3 males and 2 females, but never before have they turned out all male...now i can't make more JIlly bean seeds... So I will never get to really try any Jillybean....what a letdown.

Hell...I would definitely give them to you...lol.. I am going to cross them with something as I said...but mostly because I was looking forward to trying some JIlly Bean and now I can't... Good thing I started a few fem seeds and had a couple of clones from years old fem seeds...lol.

So Subcool I know you say you don't like when people mix your genetics, but these things happen...lol. I certainly didn't spend all that money to get nothing usable...so use these males I will....

i like the room i sleep in to be nice and cold too ,otherwise i struggle to get a good nights sleep.if its too warm i search for the cool spots under my pillow, and then i flip it over so i can put the side of my face on it.i also will turn my duvet cover over so i can feel the cool side on me.i will also stretch my legs out from under my duvet so i can feel the cold sheets on my legs lol.and i just keep doing it untill i fall asleep.
luckily tho my grow room is a different one to the one i sleep in so my plants dont get cold.

Well I don't think the plants will get too cold, but they definitely don't get hot...
I don't wanna talk about how much I run my AC...makes me feel like a shitty environment killer.

I have lots of different seeds from the few times I have ordered reg seeds, and a few times making my own fem seeds, but I don't have anymore Jilly beans to try for a female..I always want to get at least one female...one female ensures that I can try again and again and again if need be...but now nothing...I am just stuck here... other than to make seeds with the pollen and then grow some of those seeds out and see what I end up with... but they won't actually be Jilly Bean so I will not have actually tried the Jilly...then again don't Qrazy Train and Jilly bean share some parentage...
I got a few seed of a strain called Rocklock From DNA Genetics, and with that order I also got 2 reg LA confidential...one didn't sprout, and the other was male...so I crossed the LA male with the Rocklock Fem, and the resulting plants grown from the seeds are all uniform and almost exactly like the Rocklock...the cross gets a little taller, and has more color at the end, it finishes just as quick, might have a few more leaves, Anyway what I am getting at is since both strains were from the same breeder they obviously shared some parentage...which would probably be the case with the 2 TGA strains I have, one of which is a sausage fest...lol. What if the other 5 pack is all females...that would be so awesome...super unlikely...but surely the odds are in my favor to not get all males 2x in a row... I swear to you guys if I pop these 5 Qrazy Train and they are all male then it is the last time I buy seeds from anywhere...I'll just get to work making my own weird combos from what I already have...that will have just been way way way too much spent on pollen...

there is nothing wrong with throwing a few packs of fem autos in your greenhouse in feb to raise funds for the big run in the spring. everyone needs a bumper crop from time to time, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Though I'm new to cannabis cultivation, I'm in it for the long-haul, so regs are the only way to go for me. I can't tell you how frustrating it is to look for your favorite strains, to find them only available as fems. I'm starting to wonder if it's a form of genetic copyright or something?

My goal is to eventually do some breeding, so landrace strains would be preferable. I've only grown outdoors in very small quantities, and using bag-seed for that matter. But the research I've done online has led me to lean more towards Mandala Seeds, Mr. Nice Seeds, as well as Subs TGA gear. There are others too, of course.

I still have the romantic notion of one day being able to travel the world and collect seed along the way, but for those of us who are home-bound, there's plenty of great genetics to work with. It's just such a damn robust plant when you get down to it, and using regular seeds is the same reason why I grow in soil... It's simply a more natural process for the plant, and myself for that matter!

Im gonna keep it real...fuck sum fems..we can talk about it all day,,but it aint about bumper crops or anything rushed..I live in tennessee,i can loose everything over a bumper crop..so i tried fems and autos going against my fellow weed nerds.and fuck'em ..they aint worth tha time!!.i gotta make seeds..and bumper crops that shit dont fly down here ..its about technique, tha art has been passed down..to grow great weed not bumper weed...so fuck fems..

im in the desert, and can start as early as mid feb. autos are great because they are done by june, and then i throw sub's genetics down for the summer crop. since they're autos i dont care if they're fem or not, i dont keep any of em, it funds the summer crop.
