Thanks for the thread.. lots of people getting help... very kool.... OK I'm a total newb in the midst of my first grow... I've read lots of threads and stuff about harvesting and curing. My question is what exactly do you do. Do you do the flush?? How many times/days/ straight water or "flushing agent"... do you do the complete darkness thing??? Drown your roots?? Drying... hang em?? throw em in the dryer... whatever...LOL.. Basically, what is your routine??? Thanks

What would be the result of taking too much off the new growth using the FIM method? Uncle bens thread says to take about 80% of the new growth, but what if you took it all? just wondering.
Then you would've topped instead of fimmed...getting only 2, of the expected 4 tops...

Welcome to RIU curtis, and thanks for stopping by my thread...now let's get down to business..

I usually start giving nutes at the 2 week from seed mark, but start off at 1/4 the recommended strength and increase in 1/4 intervals every week, for a period of 4 weeks...
If the change in light cycle does not cause her to show sex, she will show you sex in about2-3 weeks...this is when she will be fully mature and ready to flower...

Thanks once again, and feel free to ask anymore questions!

Thank you for the info. Since my last post I have noticed what appears to be hairs growing from plant - hoping that means a female ! Again thanks for the knowledge and experience.

I usually shoot for 6.3 as that is what my nutes say is the "ideal" PH range for nutrient uptake. I personally don't think a point or two is a big deal, anywhere between 6 an 7 is usually fine, but try and stay to the 6 end of the spectrum. Soil or hydro also makes a difference, some hydro users go below 6.
Yup, 5.8 is considered ideal for all hydroponic systems...

My harvest routine...
Start flushing process 2 weeks before suspected harvest day...since I usually grow hydro, I completely clean out the rez. and fill back up with fresh water at least 2x in those 2 weeks...
When harvest comes, do all the trimming, then I hang them in a cold, dark spare closet for 4-7 days (or whenever the stem is dry enough to snap when you bend it) Then into mason jars, aired out twice a day for an hour...I continue this "burping" process for at least 3 weeks...
Then the best part...SMOKE THE SHIT!!! haha

Is it bad to trim the fan leaves during the flowering process? We are about 2 weeks in and we want to give our stem/pistols as much light as possible but will it hurt the buds if we trim the leaves that don't have buds on them?

IMO, trimming off perfectly fine leaves is a bad thing...Leaves act as solar panels for the plant and is the main source of photosynthesis...
More light+more leaves=more bud!

thanks roc im usein coco soil does this affect the ph?
If you're running pure coco, you'd probably wanna bring the pH down to 5.8, because I believe it is considered hydroponic? Since hydroponic by definition is a means of cultivation w/o soil...

In my experience, red stems are a genetic trait in most cannabis variety...but, some people have said it's caused by a magnesium def.? Not sure about that one...

right about the some strain thing, but can also be the first sign of low N, watch for lower leafs turning yellowish to verify
