Need some help with newest DiY Panels..CXB3590

This isn't my first build, I've done 6 panels already with no problems whatsoever.
Equipment is 12x CXB3590 CD bin , 3x MW HLG-185H-C1400B drivers, 3x 38" 5.886" heatsink from heatsinkuSA . All the cords/wiring, soldering, methods and execution were exactly the same on these 3 newest as the 6 already done and working for months with no problem.

I got them all placed on the heatsinks and soldered etc. Hooked the wires up to the driver. Quadruple checked everything was correct and had solid connections. Plugged in the first panel, nothing. Got the second one done up to see if it was just something on that first panel..nothing. At this point i thought maybe i got some faulty drivers so i took out 1 of my working panels and connected the driver from that to my new lights...still nothing. Just to make sure i connected the lights on the working panel to the new driver and they lit up just fine. So the problem is the lights... They never turned on at all and then got fried or anything, they never lit up period. Like I said i quadruple checked all connections before plugging in and then even more after it didnt work. Could something have happened to them during shipping that killed all 12 of the cobs? They are all undamaged/unmarked physically, handled with great care etc.. The only difference in this build is i ordered the last 2 from jerry at KB and these ones came from Cutter.

just one bad light in the string could stop the hole thing if its wired in series like it sounds? i doubt all the lights are bad.hell it could just be one bad spot in or along any of the wires in the light run

Could be bad wire as well. If the wire was stretched at anytime it could have broke inside the casing. Time for a continuity check.

couldnt sleep plus the soldering iron was already hot...got all 4 on 1 panel to light up individually... still no go on all 4. going to fuck with it more in the morning and switch out wiring..

If COBS checked out, it is wiring problem. focus on your wires and connections. One bad connection will do it. Did you solder or use solderless connections? Check with a multimeter for continuity from point to point if soldered or otherwise. . peace.

Most likely the wiring. I check my wires for continuity as I assemble. Some advice I picked up here and so far, only a single panel that did not light up the first go.

In my case, I had one Meanwell HLG-120H-C1400B for a 3 light panel for a friend I had ordered. I inadvertently used this one on a 4 cob heatsink. On power-up, lights would come on very briefly and then nothing. I thought it was a bad connection. I checked all connections and no change. I then hooked up one cob at a time and each cob worked. Then two cobs at a time and they worked. Finally all 4 and back to nothing.

As I scratched by head, I looked down and saw the model number on the meanwell and I said Shit!!!!

That driver will only run 3, not 4......

I should have caught it on assembly as the 120 is a little shorter and my mounting holes were tight.

Test one light at a time and you will find the connection.

Maybe is 72V version instead 36V?
Try again with only 2COBs
baaah... fairly certain now this was overlooked at the time of purchase and is whats jamming me up. putting a dimmer switch on the driver and run at 50% should work eh? or will i need to buy hlg-185h-c700 x3 ?

check the mfg number first with digikey or mouser and they will tell you volts, frequency, color etc. before spending more money. dimming will not fix the problem. If teh circuit works, the driver will run at 100%. you are having a voltage/current flow issue. use a meter and find the break in your circuit.. Cutter has done their homework and the parts fit together, it is something you have done, putting them together like you said in the start of this thread. . Similar to working on a MC, go back to the last thing you did, undo it and start from there again. You checked the COB's now check your wiring and connections with a meter. from cob to connection to cob connection, find the open circuit using resistance (ohms) . peace. be patient.

if you use the 700mA vrsion it will works, or switch COB. I am sure, you checked connection before;) so only option was wrong Voltage version;)

also i got the drivers frome onlinecomponents.com and the cob's seperately from cutter. so it wasnt a paired package they put together just fyi

honestly i dont think id want to put him through the trouble. this wont be my last build so i can just save these drivers for the next one and DOUBLE CHECK my damn order next time :wall:

2 parallel circuits with 2 cobs in series would split the voltage and current.
welcome to my amateur hour thread! obviously im an electrical noob, i learned enough to do my panels with the gear i bought only one way. not enough to troubleshoot problems like this. really appreciate all the input from everyone here, why i love riu! so i did this..
