need tips to hot! 400watts

I have 3 violator Kush, 3 LA confidential and 2 that I don’t know the name of, when I got the clones they were labeled CB. Any ideas what they could be? I haven’t been able to get a hold of my clone provider to ask. Well anyways I also have a 400watt mh/hps lamp in a 3x8x6 growing area. One problem I’m having is the temp. Daytime it stays around 84-91, I’m sure that’s not good. I’m trying to get them around 70-75. I have a 4inch exhaust fan and a 4inch in, think I should go with 6 inch? Does anyone have any tips on how to keep the room cooler? They are about a month old. I had them under a 300watt cfl until about a week ago (had to wait for light system to come in) now they look like they are doing much better. My set up was kind just thrown together. I think mine looks ghetto but I’m hoping it works. Both cb strains are doing great I think, they are bout 12inchs tall. The 3 LA confidential are from 10inches-12 which I also think are doing great. The 3 VK are ok well at least 2 of them are, one is really short about 7inches tall. its grows but not as fast as the others. I don’t know why, I was thinking because it was a clone taken from the top of the mother since those are harder to root? Or I might be wrong. Any ideas why it’s so small? When I transplanted they all had wonderful root balls at the bottom of the cup. Well I hope yall can help me out. Any tips or advise would really help this is my first time growing. I’m just going off of what I read online and books. Thanks for your time.

your ballast is not in the room right? those fuckers put off some serious heat. If yours is still in there, get it out, you'll be pleased.

ill try that, it is in the room but to me feels like the light is what gives off the most heat. ill let you know whats the temp after i take out the ballast. thanks!

Run your dark period from noon-ish to however many hours dark you want later. If you keep the humidity high enough 70% minimum, heat isn't a problem.

Moving more air is only going to dry out the leaves. If anything you need a humidifier.

Its true the bulb throws most of the heat in your room, but the balllast throws alot too, get that sucker out of there and you'll be pleasantly surprised. I dropped the lights on temp in my flower room from 31c down to 26c just by moving my ballast out of the room.

I agree with dude. This is an easy way to drop temps.

I use a 250 cfm inline fan, it's 6 inches. My HPS is in a air cooled hood though.

Regardless of humidity your room shouldn't be over 90 degrees.

There is no need for a humidfier, you always want a breeze on your plants, it strengthens the stems and increases transpiration.

Good circulation is key. I have four small (3" square, I think) fans I use for intake and exhaust, two on each. I also have a 9" fan that blows directly on the lamp, and directs that air up toward the exhaust fans. Ballast is outside the room, and my temps vary from 71F to 82F (the current min and max on my thermometer). My humidity hovers around 50%. No problems with the plants, they seem to be enjoying it so far. If you are having serious problems, I'd suggest a cooltube and ducting.

I have 2 fans in my room... 1 to keep the humidifier from soaking the carpet and another 3 feet above the canopy blowing acroos the hood. The leaves of my plants don't even sway. The idea is to get CO2 to the plants.... stem strength is largely genetic. If you're growing fat nugs anyway you'll have to stake or tie up the nugs so in that regard fans don't do much of anything.

fans def play in important role, in addition to strengthening the stems and increasing transpiration they ward off mold and keep the plants cool and provide fresh air.

I don't know where you got the idea that with increased humidity your temperature doesn't matter, there is absolutely no truth to that satement, just like you idea that organic nutrients can't burn your plant...

thanks again, i just orderd 6inch inline and just moved that ballast. ill post some pics tonight.

well i took the ballast out and it did drop the temp but not much, my 6inch exhaust will be coming in soon so that should drop it to where i wanna be.
