New Beginnings for Massachussetts and I

Thanks ... but if you wouldn't mind offering a suggestion, how can I take clones from these things? As they are right now I'd have to take the tops ... no other branches are developed enough ... and I'm pretty sure that's not a good idea.
Give it a lil time yet.

To accelerate growth and take advantage of your even canopy, lower the lights a bit.

The quantum boards are at 18" full tilt boogie @ 1050ma. I know lux isn't a great way to do it but a $300 par meter will have to wait a bit. I've got 30K lux across the canopy now and I thought if I made it any stronger it would inhibit stretch.
I suppose I could order the lenses but by the time they get here it will probably be too late for this crop. I was thinking about 60 degree on the outer 4 rows and 90s on the interior 4.
I guess I'm just impatient ... but if I have to wait for another week or 2 to flip I'll just have to deal with it. I'm committed to getting clones of all 5 before flipping so in the words of the Belichick ... it is what it is.

DWC has been on my mind alot since you mentioned it to me. I would love to be able to see my babys roots, and in soil I can not. question for you~ Personally, do you use just an air pump and air stone, or do you also use the water/nutrient pump with a line up to your plants? (bubblephonics). I am seeing both ways when I type "dwc" into google.
I like the DWC style takes a little more staying up on then my flood and drain table but my Clones start off in a bubble cloner I made by myself using just hydroguard, then I transfer them over to a six station DWC 20 gal tub and let the roots grow out a little more before I finally put them in the flood and drain tables. Works out really well and as long as you check the pH and PPM every day I have no problems.

According to Robin, about 250-260w total for 2 boards. It's only a 2x4x5 but I may add a 3rd board in the future just to even things out
The driver I picked should push the 288's to about 320 +/- if I want to pin them, but I was thinking about 275 for the pair, plus another 60win xm-l2's I have. Should be good for a 3x3.

DWC is much like driving fast; everything happens a lot faster and there's more to keep track of. Learn the basics- you're doing a fine job thus far, btw- and it will be a logical next step.
thanks for the compliment, I feel like everything is on cruise control right now, and getting antsy. Going faster and more to keep track of is my style. Will see if i can get these ladies to flower and harvest and learn the basics...then maybe give a little try with DWC. Why not, I already have the rapid rooter, nutes (GH Flora Trio Nutrients and Hydroguard), bucket, drill & bit for the holes, and the tubing, airstone, battery syphon pump, and air pump from my old seahorse tank :-)

I mean your grow space more specifically not your lights...but I'd love to see them as well. Was thinking about an LED swap at some point in the future just for electricity savings if nothing more! Plus I like what I have seen thus far concerning these types of grows. How much $ you have invested in LED ( not including labor)

My 2x4 Veg tent w 4 cobs
148 watts from the wall.
Right around 500ppfd across the entire canopy.
161 lumens per watt.

4x4 flower tent with 8 cobs
480w. just over 700ppfd.

About $800 in parts

Here's a link to a picture of the lights
https://www.rollitup.org/t/new-beginnings-for-massachussetts-and-i.931764/page-64#post-13397639

Including miscellaneous parts and freight I would estimate just under $300

I'll try to get some tent pictures tomorrow, but it's just a Vivosun 2x4x5 with a Vivosun 4" fans and filter for veg. You've seen the 5 Blue Widows, and in addition there are 2 seedling HSO Black D.O.G and 6 Black Krimm tomato seedlings. Not very exciting.

I have some northern lights autofem from Sensi seeds but I am all set on seeds for a couple years at least. Thanks though. Picked up some gorilla bomb, girl scout cookies and Misty kush fems. I only run fems. Hate to put all that work into a useless male.

I have both setups-GH ecogrower has both top feed and airstones- my bubblebuckets only have airstone- Top feed not really needed as long as you have taproot showing on Rapid Rooters before transferring to system- just gently place on top of 1" hydrotron base in net pot then add rest of hydrotron-, keep res full to bottom of net pot and airstone will bubble water and o2 to clay balls that have a wicking action- within a few days, roots will be in water( might need to top water until roots hit water- just need to maintain level( not easy after awhile, as My current ones are drinking 1 gal. per day per plant) Leave airpump on full, as more bubbles, more 02

The thing that scares me about hydro is the speed with which a problem can kill you. I've heard that in soil, a problem can take 7-10 days to become acute, but in dwc you only have 2-3. No margin for error there. If you aren't dialed in and checking everything constantly you can end up starting over.

I'm gonna stick with dirt for a while. If I get to the point where everything is predictable, I might try a sip run.
True about things happening quick, but you can fix them quick, also- Basics- use hydroguard(or equivilent)- keep res. temps in check( under 75 deg.) maintain res. level and PH/ PPM And DON"T OVERFEED!( biggest issue with growing in hydro or soil) I run 3/4 of Recommended Strength on 3 pt. Flora and have NO ISSUES and that is not reached until plants are well established ( wouldn't feed a baby Steak & Lobster ) I water once a day, wait 10 min.( smoke a little, Admire, trim, Etc. then draw dixie cup water sample- test Ph and PPM- if needs adjustment, draw Gal. out- mix nutes, pour back in

You should definitely take a look at the electrical savings over a month/year to see what you are saving electricity wise, in case you balk at the $800, because depending on your price for electricity, these costs pay off pretty quickly. (but less quickly if you live in the boonies)

My first partial month growing w/1000w, my electric bill went up. $100 from normal. Second month with 1000w + 200w cheapo cob, it went up $150 from normal. Third month I cut my wattage use in half with quality cobs. So at $75 a month savings it will pay for itself in about 11 months. Worth it.

Now I have to figure out how to sell my old equipment. 2 months use on anything maximum. Would rather keep it then get Pennies on the dollar at a hydro store. I really hate Craigslist but that may be my best option. Anyone used a better option in mass?

Ugh, craigslist is filled with posts that are just stores selling new equipment. No idea, sadly.
