CrazyDago did the roundtable on automation the other night, so I was like, "I got this RaPi and Uno... might as well make something with them." At the very least I want to control/record temp and humidity. I assume other people might be into this if they didn't have to pioneer it.

And I'm still telling the unvarnished truth;

Every few years someone gets really excited about it, they make a thread, get started... And that's it. Nothing much comes of it. There isn't a lot of discussion about how well the build went, how well it works, cost, adding more functionality, etc.

So for whatever reason the interest peters out, until the next time someone gets excited.

I mean, it's a controller. You can drop $2k on a controller to do everything you want with an arduino. Or you can just buy one. What happens when you build it is: You have a partially automated garden just like the pre-built 2k ones. It's not amazing or new. I found that system someone else already built and likely I'll use that framework. As I spend more money I'll add modules and control. It's looking likely that Growmau5 will post videos on the subject soon, as he just made an auto-pH adjuster.

I can design and price out the components if people were interested, but if people weren't interested I wasn't going to shit up the thread or start a new one. Someone already posted a thread with some pretty great work, already. https://github.com/kizniche/Mycodo

welcome amy~ nice to see another lady grower. Tell us about your grow or setup! This is the BEST place to chat or share or ask questions. I ask A LOT, and not one person has been a jerk like they were on a few other sites I belonged to :-) Nice, informative people here.
I am currently not growing anything as my cat ate my Kush. Long story, ha ha.

I've been growing some white and red widow every year but always on the outside, now I'm learning as much as I can to make a set up at home!

Thanks Mom! Yup I've noticed that too, love this place. I'll be sure to post some updates when I get my indoor setup going, until then I can proudly say that my white widow is the best! :smile:
