New Beginnings for Massachussetts and I

Ouch. You can't afford NOT to use the very best LED lighting you can find. At those rates it would pay for itself in 6 months!
My last lectric bill I used >4500 kwh. That wasn't from the grow, and we really don't use a/c. Lots of stuff in a house add up; #1 is our pool heater, it probably uses 2000 of those kwh, then there are computers and laptops (we have ~10 on at any one time), dehumidifiers, fans, appliances (we have 2.5 freezers beyond the main in the kitchen), blah, blah, blah.

All our house lights are led and we are pretty good about turning them off when we aren't in a room. We use propane for our dryer and cooktop. All of our appliances are new and high efficiency. Our bill is still way too high.

Turn off your pool heater or get a solar heater for it.

So how do I get the plant to leach the nutes from the fan leaves or do you remove them? Taste is much more important than yield at this point but don't want to hurt yeilds unnecessarily.
You can't leach anything from the plant. All you can do is cut back on feeding and let the plant use it up. Don't stop, just reduce.
Info from a friend
"@ 16 square feet you could run only 8 cobs and get just over 700ppfd @480watts from the wall.

citizen 1818 3000k @ 90cri
https://cobkits.com/product/citizen-clu048-1818-90cri-choice-of-color-temps/

Note the 3000k, it's got loads of red for flowering and justover 50% blue, which is 49% more than a standard hps has lol, and 30% more blue than a hortilux super hps bulb has.

There's no need whatsoever forseparate spectrum lights @veg/flower with cobs."

I would also suggest using an agromax pure UV bulb for an hour a day. (15 minutes per hour for 4 hours). Minimal electricityusage.

Judge for yourself how effectivethey are. Here is my 5x5 @6weeks with my three plants &480 Watts. Just did my 20%defoliation couple days ago and they are still loving life. (Yellow is from the bad genetics of myMisty Kush) View attachment 3981326 View attachment 3981327
The salt precipitation on your grow bags and drip emitters is ridiculous. How long have they been like that?

The salt precipitation on my bags has been there since the 4th week of veg so over 2 months. Flushing doesn't help it.

The salt on the top of my emitters is from my pouring the leftover solution that the pump can't get over the top and letting it dry there.

Do you alternate plain water and feedings?

Does anyone still read this thread?

Sad day. Yesterday I harvested all the top colas on my c99. Today I checked out my remaining 2 plants. One is 1/2 dead from variegation, the other has several broken colas. :( I tried to move the net around to help support the remaining colas better but have at least three broken. Still have about 2 more weeks left to grow it. I tried to go in there and tie some up but I'm not sure it's going to help the broken colas any. At least a half pound on that plant alone. Next time I'm going to go with three rows of netting.

Still here, Axle- it has been slow here but put it down to summer activities and too much going on- keep up the fight, brother-every grow I do presents a different challenge- summer in basement has been a struggle( super hi humidity, bugs, etc.hi temps) rethinking next year plans(winter-inside-summer outside), but probably continue to do both just to cover all bases.

I do but there hasn't been much to comment on, however for anyone that's interested, here's quick update
Keep an eye out for a Black D.O.G. grow journal on this site very shortly. In week 13 of what should be a 15-16 week grow

I'm doing an outdoor soil comparison with Dutch Passion Auto Blackberry Kush https://growdiaries.com/diaries/2823-auto-blackberry-kush-soil-comparison
My trees have gotten taller than I remembered so there's only about 5-6 hours of direct (mostly afternoon) sun which is hurting the growth, but I'm still seeing some interesting results.

Just started from seed
2x G13 Labs Pineapple Express
1x Emerald Triangle Black Berry OG
2x Dinafem OG Kush
1x Serious Seeds CBD Chronic

The CBD Chronic is for a patient ... the others are all freebies that look interesting and have roughly the grow cycle and size.

The mothers I'm keeping for Blue Widow and Black D.O.G. are out of control so a massive pruning ... possibly including the roots looks necessary ... PM me if you think you might like some clones.

Let the games begin.

I think you'll like the pineapple express, it was the easiest to grow for me, nice yield and frosty buds

Your chart has some misplaced decimal points....

This is from their website, and matches my bill:

Customer Charge $5.50/month
Distribution Charge* 6.236¢/kWh
Transmission Charge 3.056¢/kWh
Transition Charge 0.054¢/kWh
Energy Efficiency Charge 2.083¢/kWh
Renewables Charge 0.050¢/kWh

So if you add those up, they come to 11.479 cents/kwh (excluding the flat rate $5.50)..
thats funny, i went over it with someone who couldnt speak english, lol
darn those decimal points!
WELL, at least its in my favor, and my grow is not as much as i thought, LOL.
xoxo

I am going to be moving more from auto plants to photo plants, and would love some clones at some point. right now between the grow I have and MOVING....yikes...I dont want to get a head of my self. but WOW, how much easier it would be to get clones rather then ordering seeds, waiting for them, trying to germ them, etc.....:-)

we got solar panels put on on our house in arizona for when our pool got cold in the winter months, it was great. or maybe you could just get a solar "blanket" that you put on the top of the water and then remove when you want to swim.

I am going to get a meter for my tent so that I know exactly what my grow is costing me, and keep it consistant...so when my son gets the electric bill i have proof what it costs. i want to keep the grow $50 a month or under. Now that I have correct numbers (thanks greg!) I can do some math.... delivery charge + supply charge of approx 21cents per kwh sounds a lot better than my blonde math of 32cents, LOL
