New Grow.. Need Tips/Help/Suggestions

Hello,

I am new to the forums.

I have decided to legally grow for medical reasons (personal use).

I am limited to a closet.. sized approximately 5 Feet by 2 Feet.

What do you guys that have experience suggest I do?

I can get trimmings/clones from a local dispensary over here... or some Cali Connection seeds. Most likely I am going with clones to make it easier for me...

So I need help with what I should do in terms of lighting, as I am for sure doing a soil (Fox Farms Ocean Forest) set up.

Lighting, Pot container size, How many plants.. etc. I just need some general help.

I am trying to go for a big yield... I know thats tricky for my first grow, but that is why I am here, to maximize efficiency. I don't even know about air circulation and venting and what not.

danny.. i don't know if that is sarcasm or not.. i really can't tell. im sorry if i have offended you in any way shape or form.. i don't want that kinda relationship with my peers on RIU.

Yes, I have done some research, but still am a little skeptical because I have not sat down with guidelines on how to exactly grow "properly."

I would start with two plants. Start in solo cups to 1 gallon to 5 gallon. Get either plastic air pots or fabric pots. Either a dimmable 600 or a 400watt lamp would serve you well.

Can you tell us your budget? Also please visit the newbie section of the forum and read the stickies. They help alot.

Budget: $400 Thanks Flaming Pie, that was very helpful. And I will start reading up on stickies, I have lots to learn before I attempt a succesful grow.

One last quick question: Can I get away with poor air circulation? The closet is directly opposite the side of the window in my room... I don't know how I will be able to do this... If I werent to care about odor, would this be enough circulation of air?

You want enough airflow to keep your temps down. The lights put off heat.

Airflow helps the plants grow better and keeps mold away.

Im sorry that people like danny answer you in that manner your just looking for some suggestion/help and thats what these forums are for.... i agree with who ever said to start out with 2 since its your first grow.. thats what im doing ...but im also growing with cfls and having to contend with the very same delima.. as for finding a way to vent or air circulation do you have pics of your area for more assistance ... remember you push cold air thru the bottom as hot air rises and have it exit near the top... i am a noob aswell so take what i have to offer with a grain of salt and continue with research as to what would be the best cooling method .... i just had to cut two holes and add ducts to lower it to 80 83 degrees ... my fix was simple didnt need to add any fans or what not just allow my fan in my room to be on ..

yes... but what would be the best way to turn my closet into a better environment? its a closet with 2 sliding doors.. should i remove that?
Could build a frame with 2x2 or 2x4 and use black white panda film to block light out. Or buy a tent if you have enough money leftover after buying light, nutes, soil and pots.

If you plan on expanding in the future, I would wait on the tent.

Either way, you will have time. Don't need to completely block out light until you flip their light schedule to 12/12.

that is pretty smart, and thanks for the kind words.

what i am referring to is to just cut 2 holes, one at the top for hot air, one at the bottom for cold air, in the sliding doors, and just utilzie those sliding doors. i think if we open our windows from there well be fine, with fans intaking and exhausting inside the sliding doors.. or outside... what do u think bro?

Get a full spectrum bulb and you can definitely do veg and flower. If you get a switchable ballast you can do MH at a later date if you so choose.

If you were to veg for 5-6 weeks you should get between 3-5 oz a plant. Depends on what strain, how healthy you keep em and so on.

That's why it is SO very important to read up on growing. The health and size of plant determines your yield.

Well if you have a fan on the out side itll help push the air into the room ... if its small like mine itll push the air all the way thru out the top ... if its bigger you might need another inside to help push it out ... or an extractor fan to suck it out ... also like pie said you want zero light to penatrate your room while they flower as they need complete darkness .... hopes this helps

Well someone told me since im a noob its best to stay away from nutes till you have a grow or two of successful grows then start expirementing with them... but hey what do i know im a noob lol

Put those 2 plants in the biggest possible pots to help maximize yield. You asked about ventilation earlier, you shoud at the very least have a small oscilating fan in the closet. constant moving air strengthens you plants while keeping heat pockets from forming and in general just moves the air around plants love it.
