i have a piece of plywood that i will be attaching it too soon. Do you recommend something better than this?

I'm going to rephrase that
i have a piece of flammable material that i will be attaching my ballasts which may catch fire if they fail to soon. Are there alternatives to burning down my house?

Anc, I thought the plywod was a bad idea... even though I see everyone do it. I'll just be careful and not spill water. Asp someone said remove drip ring, why?

luke, do you think i could i run that 1000w with it being vented out, keep it dimmed to 600w?
Whats the point of having a bigger light if youre going to run it dimmed? Thats inefficient. If you want high watts in a small space consider supplementing with led or even hang some cfl. Low heat lighting, otherwise ur going to be battling heat.
