These new Phillips bulbs were just introduced to my local Home Depot.

They appear to be in direct competition to the Cree A19 bulbs, as they have the same look and feel, same specifications and price

9w daylight / 9.5w soft white (60 w equivalent) 800 lumens

those cree bulbs are inferior quality compared to the regular(heatsink) ones........I would return all and buy OSRAM led bulbs at Lowes with the highest efficiency ATM(95lm/w)...don't know the current pricing on them though? on my pos smart-ass phone;p

I've had 2 cree bulbs explode, and 1 not even work out of the box, and I was using the ones with "heat sinks".

The guy at home depot was like "Burned out..." and i was like "Actually, it exploded.. shake it.". I'm thinking those cree bulbs will end up a money loser for cree considering the return rate.

One of the led trolls must have been responsible for the design.

It's not an issue for me. Until they stop exploding, I'll keep turning them in for replacement using my lifetime warranty.

That's the last thing I'd expect from Cree. Good to know.

Often made by the same company under license in china and packaged to customers delight ...but
I'm happy to see this change as many of the china made ballasts of the CFL's have rare earth metals in them ..
..and the worlds running out of that stuff ..seen in the increasing prices of cfl's over the next 2-3 years

I've never had an issue with my cree bulbs other than a little leaking glue on one. Philips on the other hand, sucks at soldering. Every single philips bulb I have ever bought has failed due to a wire coming out of its solder point.

I'm about to start replacing all my light fixtures with DIY cobs at this rate. As soon as I can figure out an ascetically pleasing layout.

Wow, I just ripped out my bulbs finally after nearly 18 months, both Cree and Phillips, but the phillips are original incandescent shape, not the funky shaped one....

Never had a single one burn-out, on every day for flowering....they all still work just went all over the house.....

Both the Cree Xte's and the xp-g versions....Phillips are 3k and if you break them down, really just SMD diodes....

Out of 40-50 bulbs I bought [i know....but always planned to use them in a 2nd life around the house, so buying that many, doesn't feel all that bad :)] never had a single issue with either brand.....
