okay, i have four plants in 3 gallon growbigs with a mixture of promix-hp and foxfam ocean foest, they are about 17days old they are showing there true leaves. they are white widow reg seeds, under 4 t-5's, up until three days ago i didnt have a fan on them. now they are showing yellowish/brownish coloring on the tips? what is happening? a nitrogen defiency? the lamp can't be burning them, right? what can i do to stop this? all suggestions welcomed.

Do you have any pics of the situation. Also what is the humidity and temp of the grow space.
there's plenty of nutrients already in the Pro Mix, a little too much for seedlings if you ask me. Nitrogen deficiency would not look like that, a general over fertilizing would. My guess is over watering , 17 days old and just showing fan leaves ??? how far away are your lights ?
the light are right on top of it, i have stopped watering for the last two days because i thought i was watering to much. i started them in rapid rooters and transplanted them in 3 gallon bags. should i have transplanted them in a smaller container first? its just alittle yellowing, how can i fix this problem? what is a good soil to start seedlings off in? if promixhp and foxfamr ocean forest is to much? i am going to the store soon, so any suggestions would be really helpf ul for what i should get./
I start in Pro Mix, those rapid rooters I assume are those peat pellets you soak in water and they puff up, if so they are garbage.
I use little pots and repot every 10 days to a slightly bigger size. A Styrofoam coffee cup with slits cut out the bottom edges for drainage is a good size, then a big tall coffee cup with drainage, then a 2 liter pop bottle with the top curved part cut off and drainage holes too, then 1 1/2 gallon grow bags (I just use 200 gram potato chip bags with the bottom corners cut off for drainage) My last grow was just 2 gallon bags under a 150 watt HPS yard light, got about 3/4 ounce average. You shouldn't have to fertilize at all until two weeks after the last transplant as there's so much fertilizer in the pro mix.
no I don't, I think over watering was, too much soil for the plant to dry down. It's really important that soil dry out frequently so that the roots get aerated.
no, it's permanent, I cut them of if they're shading healthy green ones.
depends how many your talking about, no more than 1/3, take out the worst ones that are shading any healthy ones, if the whole plant looks bad you might want to top the plant and clone it and start over.
How warm you got that spot with your pots. A nice warm spot like on top of a hot water heater tank is good. How long have you been waiting ? You said they cracked before you planted them. That soil looks a little scary to me, whatcha got there ?
