bro, do you know how long an inch is?

Stop trying to argue on the internet. Nobody ever wins. 26watt CFLs 3 inches away from your seedlings will not burn them. I can touch the bulb with my hand for crying out loud.

Good news! My 150 HPS is being shipped today UPS...

Sadly though, I may be out of town a day or two when it comes, hope my girls can hold on the CFLs a bit longer.

What's the rule of thumb for mixing HPS and CFLs? Using both at once?

Generally when using CFL and Fluoro lighting it is best to keep the lights as close as possible. This usually means 1-2 inches away at all times. Fluoro lights do not have very good light penetration through the canopy, in fact after about 12 inches it has lost 90% of its effect. HID lighting (HPS and MH) has a much improved penetration over fluoro and those lights can be kept further away.

No matter what light you get, if the heat given off burns the tops of plants then ultimately you have no choice but to move the light further away, come up with a "cool tube" of some kind or active fans blowing heat away. Generally the leaf can touch the spiral bulb and not get burned, but if it touches the base ( Ballast) it will burn quite easily.

Anyway both pics of plants look good, not that i ever fuck with fluoro much, I only use it as a supplemental light in my grows.

By chance were you looking at my AK pics or M.J.'s and Y.M's?

Is 1" tall seedlings really okay after 9 days from seed?

Thank you, reasonable person, for backing me up. I find it so hard to believe that guy grew plants with CFLs a foot away and they didn't stretch ridiculously tall and fall over. I've never heard such nonsense. Maybe possible but definitely not optimal.

Day 10: To compensate for my one 42 watter going out, and to have even lighting, I now have 2 42s and 4 23s until my HPS comes UPS. My HPS should be here tomorrow, but I'm going out of town today for a couple days (the girls will be looked on)

The girls.... aren't growing much at all :( The temp is at a nice 77˚F, what could be wrong? I tried nutes, but after one time Lara is still recovering... Jane and Fox are doing great while Sway is slowly opening up after her late start, but has her 2nd set of leaves.

Anything I can be doing? Right now I don't have a small fan on them (thought that could wait till a bit later) But I decided to look yesterday and Wal-Mart Lowes or Home Depot all stopped selling them this time of year!!

Advice? I'd hate to trash this group my first go :(

Hey nice ,buy the way saw the lamp thread is that bulb multi directional? I'd turn that hps on it's side and make a reflector vertical bulbs throw light everywhere need some way to focus it...sprouts look good...I like lara :)

for one wat are you doing giving them nutes? there barely sprouts. how much do u plan on spending on the emergency blankets because if its gonna cost you just dont buy them since your closet is white already. you should have bought the 23 watt cfls. those are more efficient with lumens and less costly. as long as ur cfls are 6k color then they should be able to grow. keep ur cfls about a foot away from your sprouts to.
ha im using 200w cfls and i keep them 2 inch away first few days then under a inch dont know what ur talkin about lmao u thinking of hps? cuz cfls stay cool enough for u to touch even when they been on for weeks
