did you end up investing in any other lights? your buds looks dense and i can see the frost on your fan leaves!
Still running the one 110w T5 and 2 40w CFLs. I turn her 90 degrees everyday so all sides get some of that light. Thee buds are quite dense. Even the buds farther down in the canopy are pretty tight.

I was looking at the trichomes this morning and just starting to see some milky heads and she has a pungent citrusy smell. If the data sheet is to be believed we still got a few more weeks of flower, but I'll be keeping an eye on the trichomes.

I've been noticing as the buds get heavier the lower branches keep sagging farther toward horizontal. As night follows the day, right? LOL So yesterday I took some some of this stuff and tied a bunch of the branches up. Made it a little more compact but the flowers still have room to breath.

However, I had a small casualty. I guess I was manhandling it little too much and a small bud broke off. Trichomes are all clear, as this girl isn't close to ripe yet, but I'll dry and cure it for a little advance taste.

Regards,

Day 64 of Flower

Been awhile since an update. I'm happy to say there's been nothing dramatic to report. Switched to water only 12 days ago and am seeing some yellowing leaves. It's expected I guess.

I had bought a handheld microscope but can't use it worth a damn on the plant. Can't hold it still enough and keep rubbing it on the buds. So I bought a 40x loupe and that works pretty good. Granted, it's not as much magnification but I can still see plenty. Most hair has turned red and receded, but we're still not there on the trichomes. I'd say they are about 40% milky with the rest clear. I was hoping to harvest this weekend but I don't think that's gonna happen. Oh well...

The casualty from last update was pretty good. I dried it in the open (42% RH) then used a little 1/2 cup glass jar I had around to cure it for a week. It was pretty smooth. It lives up to it's advertised Pine taste. The first thing I thought of was Old English furniture polish. lol. Can't say I really loved it all that much. Not unpleasant, just very different for me. I grew up in So. Cal in the 80s and most of the "good" bud we got was Humboldt weed and the like. I guess I still have a perception of that being what good bud tastes like. Anyway... a couple photos.

And a few more of the whole thing. Fooling around with the light on a couple of these. I have one of the 40w CFLs about 4ft away.

why just water? there's no need to flush unless you're using a toilet. maybe just reduce nutes 30-50% for the last 3 waterings.

Day 75 of Flower

Very close to harvest now. I almost did it this weekend, but after reading and comparing my trichomes to others I managed to reign myself in. lol. Just in the last few days trichomes have become noticeably cloudier. New plan is to pull it down this coming weekend. I'm so looking forward to the next step! :-)

I had a whole lot of side branching fall over because of weight so I had to do something about it. Didn't want to stake something through the root zone so I found something to else to use. I was going to use the end of a fishing pole. It woulda been great with the eyes to tie off to, but it would have been too tall for the light. So I start looking around and what do I spy with my little eye? The flexible plastic handle of a cat toy. Worked out perfectly. Just zip tied it to the bottom of the stalk and tied all those fatties to it.

Here's some bud porn...

...and some trichome shots.

Day 80 of Flower

Actually a couple weeks ago. Been real busy. But it was on day 80. Got my little trim station set up and got to work. I trimmed about a 1/3 of it off the stems. Dumb idea right? It's not humid here. :wall: It turned out OK. Took me about 3 hours to dry and rack it all. Got to enjoy some glove/scissor hash after.

My dry room was right about 50 with a little ventilation. If I sealed up all the vents and turned off the exhaust it would shoot up to almost 70 pretty quick. So I decided I'd rather deal with it drying a little fast than risk mold.

After 3 days the trimmed stuff seemed ready. Felt crispy on the outside and the small stems I could find would snap. I'm not doing any hash production so I dried all the fluffy trim on the rack. and jarred that up too. After a night in the jars it was reading 62%. Two days later the bud still on the stems was ready. More than ready. After a night in the jars this bunch was sitting around 55%. Just a tad dry but still smelled wonderful. The stuff I jarred up first still seemed a little too moist. Maybe my hygrometer is off, but I dumped it out on the drying rack for a few hours. That seemed to help quite a bit.

So.... how much, right?! How much bud did the newb get off his one little plant and 190 watts of fluorescent? It came out to 126 grams. 4.5 ounces. :-D

It's been fun and quite a learning experience and I hope anyone watching has enjoyed my little grow.

Later.
