Nutrient formula per plant

Hello Ya'll ia a person who wants everything to be the same as in everything gets exactly the same as the next exc exc. When you do this its a good way to experiment with how much nutrients eaxh plant can handle on a single plant bassis but when you look at a feeding schedule or a ratio guide they normally do everything in tablespoons per gallon of water.


I was bored at work the other noght and start doing some math and conversion and came uo with a way to be able to feed each plant individually so you can be assured each plant is getting the correct amount and you can adjust accordingly to how plant reacts.

First you have to convert teaspoons into something smaller and in this case i used mL so 1 tbsp is about 14.7 mL so then you would figure out how many mL is in each ounce of 1 gallon (128 ounces) so when you devide that you come up with .11mL per ounce so now you have the start of an easy formula.

Now im gonna use an exanple from Fox Farms feeding schedule. The forst week it calls for 6tbls of grow big so i would take the .11mL and x by how many ounces of water i will be giving 1 plant. In this case we will use 7 ounces of water so .11x7=.77 then you take .77x the number of tbls it suggest so thats 6 so .77x6=4.62mL of big grow in my 7 ounces of water.

Now you can keep a journal of each plant and there specific fertilizer needs.

( .11x#oz of water)× recommend tblsp per gallon

Now this formula only works when your converting from tablespoons if you have a smaller unit such as teaspoons the .11 will be different.

If you really want to fine tune nutrients do it at the elemental level per strain/plant/growth cycle. Most nute comps have fine tuned their nutrients for a broad range of plants which is why I believe you need to add calmag and certain other additives when growing mj. Listed below is a nutrient profile which also list the ppm of each elemental source of nute. You can easily find every ingredient online per pennies on the gallon, last you a lifetime. Also look up hydrobuddy, this will help you come up with a formula of your own. Look up "hoaglands solution" as a guiding example. Once you know what mj loves you can to change the formula for each growing cycle. You will not need calmag or even need to adjust the ph if you do it right. You will also never see deficiencies because you know for a fact your plant will have enough.

Added: If you look at the formulas for some commercial brands you will notice they sometimes use the bare minimum on micro nutrients. This is just a cost saving technique IMO.


Coco Grow "fatmans coco coir grow formula". Very high in micronutes however its low in potassium. Ive grown with it and it out performed grow big and big bloom. Never had to adjust the ph or add calmag.

The list below is not the ingredients but the amount of each element in ppms. Commercial brands show by %. Below this list are the ingredients in ounces per gallon. This is also called the "formula".
