So its been a while since I posted, but I have been a busy busy girl.

We got a new puppy. German Shepherd. My sons pee wee football team made the payoffs..wooohooo!! and youth wrestling season has started. Not to mention my baby boy cut 3 more teeth.

Now that you are caught up on my life...lets talk about my other babies and projects.

I bought 10 seeds of northern lights x haze.

I started small and tried to germinate 5 seeds. One took. I placd it in a small pot filled with good soil ( not miracle grow) and placed it onthe window sill where it grew tall.......about 4 inches...and not very out. I finished my grox box while it sprouted there for about a week.

I have 5 100watt CFLs in a converted dresser lined with mylar, and an exhuast fan, and vent holes.

I placed my little pretty into the grow box and set the light timer for 18/6 and I go to check on my baby this morning, and its laying down.

I am a very concerned mommy.

This is my first time and I don't want to F it up!

please see pictures.

Welcome back SunnyD, repot the little precious in a deeper pot, cover the stem, but alow about 1.5 to 2 inches out of the soil. That should prop her up sufficiently. with CFLs you should keep them about 2 to 3 inches away from the plant. Watch them to see if it browns the edges, if it does, move the lights a little farther away from them. Start feeding in a couple more weeks, otherwise just give them water for now. High Nitrogen food for vegging and when you start the 12/12 flowering flush your soil with a couple gallons of water to get the Nitrogen out so you can start bud food. The little precious is looking very good otherwise. G'Luck and keep us all posted on her progress. **(HER, in hopes) Nim

Look.. if your really a mom like in weeds i would love to help you out...lol... who told you this is a good set up? none of those lights move?.. 500 watts?... 100 watt cfl?.. or you mean 100 equivalent?... if your willing to pull 500 watts of cfl... why not pull 400 watt of hps and get something right.... hell even those 4 tube t5 would work better... Listen im not trying to be mean im just mad that somebody on here told you that would work... shit just check out some peoples grows before you build things...

I am a bit younger. I have two children. I am 24. I am not as rich as Nancy was in the show....and my husband is still alive. I was told by a few people on there that this would be a good set up for vegetation.

I have a HPS for flowering that is currently inactive, but I thought it wouldnt work for veg....have I been led astray?

You are using a lot of unnecessary power on this seedling, and it's failing.
Next time, perhaps try and have the seed break dirt to find a single cfl 2-3" away. I'd leave it on until the seedling were established, then you can change it to your preferred lighting hours. I do 24/0 anyway.

Nice set up, but not for seedlings, unless you can get them way closer. IMO.

oh,... I feel like an ass... yes that is a good spot for veg... I would have had them more mobile.. you have enough room for 6 in there... but those side lights will be touching shit... I would have recommended you or your husband to rig it up to where you had 4 y splitters on a wood that you can raise up and drop down when you want.... I rigged them up to the bottom of my hps to get full spectrum lighting instead of buying the 100$ bubl.. and it works great...

Sorry about the confusion.. I thought you were going to grow and flower there... :bigjoint:

thats 4 cfls right there...

or get one of these... 4 t5 with 1 150 hps... to hot to run the hps in the summer ..but then you just drop it closer and only use the t5's...

but cfls are the cheapest way ...and it works fine...

theres a good idea of 4 y spliters hooked to something

It is my first plant ever, I didn't want to take on six right now. I wanted to try my hand at one and see how it went. The lights can tilt up and down and the top ones can raise and lower via chain. I know it is probably a bit much for my tiny little thing, but I guess better over powered than under?

Thanks for your help guys, I placed her closer to the lights and trasplanted her (heres hoping)....I will let you know how she is doing in a few days.

just bury it up to about an inch under the cotyledons, then place 2 cfl's within about 3 inches.

sorted.
