just bury it up to about an inch under the cotyledons, then place 2 cfl's within about 3 inches.
IMO, this would probably lead to root-rot. I'm sure it's worked before for someone, but I'm betting it's failed much more than succeeded?

i think i could be having the same problem, i germinated my seedling through the paper towel method (worked fine). So then i had this little seed with a white root about an inch right? so my friend tells me its time to bury the little innocent baby of mine in some soil so i proceeded to do so... 2 days later... NOTHING..3 days.. NOTHING.. im thinking to myself shit it died!...so i carefully let the soil out of my jiffy pot and what do u know? its not dead after all thers a stem about an inch long with 2 leaves on it...(I BURRYD IT TOO FAR DOWN!!!) im an idiot i know... but heres my deal i saved the little baby but now its growing on a huge slant and the roots are not growing down there more going off to the side... is my baby going to be okay?

i've done it on every single plant i've ever started in soil.

all turned out perfectly.

yes nice setup...nowput that tima and energy into growing uur babies or just scrap it till the playoffs are over lol...honestly hang ur lights almost touching ur top leaves but monitor daily, u could try burying it but ive found onceu bury the stem u leave urself open to mold and other things.just apply some constant indirect air on that thing, keep ur lights as close a u possibly can and u should be fine ...good luck

Well its been a week since she posted, my guess is that the plant died. It was terribly stretched from sitting in the window, You would have to bury it in a pot that was 3 feet tall to get it to the first set of leaves.

My advice would have been to get lights closer and start over with a new seed.

Bury it up to the 1st set of leaves in a bigger pot and...

Mine were doing the exact same thing and what korvette1977 suggested fixed the problem!

Only problem I ran in to was that I had to plant a few of them so deep in the pots that they got root bound and roots were coming out of of the drain holes. A transplant fixed that problem... Make sure you have a big enough pot and you won't suffer the pitfalls I did on that one.
