That's all there is to it. Simple, no?

Add the lime to your mix, water and nute as regular. The Brita is fine.

So your telling me by just doing this, I wont have to worry about my ph and such? Just as simple as that..yes? ;)

Wet may disagree but this all boils down to the quality of your starting water. Brita is no where as good as a r.o. device. No matter how good or bad the water starting water is, an r.o. will do a great job cleaning it. A Brita device removes some impurities, but not all and the worse the starting water is, the less it's ability to clean the water. But it's better than nothing obviously. Also, even out of an r.o. device, you would still need to pH the water. It DOES NOT come out pH perfect- at least mine doesn't. As I said earlier, depending on the time of year, my r.o. ph water is anywhere from 5.6 to 6.6 or there abouts.........

That's it.

SSHZ is 420% correct about your starting water. No disagreement there.

What I do have issue with is correcting starting water that there is nothing wrong with, fixing something that isn't broke as it were.

Googling *your city*+water system should give you a decent analysis of your water. 'Most' tap water is fine, some could be used as weed killer. Check yours out.

Also, make sure you let all tap water sit 24 hours before using it to make sure all the chlorine has a chance to evaporate........ if you are not using Brita/R.O.......

Thanks for the advice you 2. Glad to have people like yall to help the community. I finally found my "bible" and will be doing much more reading now. Going back to what yall were saying.. The only time I use tap is when I germinate them. After that, brita the whole way (takes some time lol). I keep reading brita has a neutral ph (so they say) so Im hoping for the best. Thanks guys!

Well, if it is a neutral, which I doubt, that would be 7.0 which is too high in all mediums anyway- soil, soiless, hydro, etc.

Few sites claim so..ill find out myself but the only thing I can use without spending so much are those strips that either you, or wet mentioned (or im trippin and none of u mentioned it). You guys got me a little stuck on whether I should even fuck with my waters ph, or just add lime to my mix and water. I hate dragging this out I do apologize...my very first project if u look at my previous threads from few years back I never worried so much about ph. Matter of fact I never checked it, she kept growing and growing until it hermi'd on me. I would buy Aquafina at the store and water (had a clone at the time, dick didnt mention anything bout it being hermi).

I guess the last thing I'll mention is one of the reason to know where you stand with the pH is in case you do have problems, you again won't know where the problem lies. If you were on top of the pH, you could eliminate that. But since you won't know, it will still be a possibility of this causing some issues. NOTHING is more important than the pH because it's a major source of grower issues, but maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones. Good luck with it..........
