Does your vehicle run on hemp bio-diesel or petroleum?

Is your computer powered by Tesla energy or coal-fired electricity?

Water powered car. When I was a kid I had a water powered rocket.

Shut the fuck up, Donnie.
Right on Johnny!!! Took the words right outta my mouth.

Wow, thanks for keeping this thread on topic guys!

Johnny, maybe generalization would have been a better word choice than ignorance, but when you dismiss an entire country as 'they are all muslims, hence they are all islamist' seems a little simple to me. Again, the islamic courts are a fairly recent phenomenon. Before that it was secular thugs. Before them they had a left-wing military dictatorship that started a pointless war with ethiopia over a strip of desert. And the reason that some of the people support the islamic courts and their jihadi is not necessarily because they're crazy about death stoning or sharia law, but because they're desperate for ANY sort of justice and order. There hasn't been a functioning government for 20 years or so. What I'm saying is that it's a bit more complicated than you implied in your post.

And the point about oil isn't really relevant to this discussion. Whether it's oil or any other kind of cargo, the horn of africa is a super important shipping route and letting these dipshits disrupt international commerce with their speedboats and rpgs is not really an option.

Here's an update...

Somali Islamists vow to stop piracy, free hostages
MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) — Islamist militants who have taken over a pirate town in Somalia say they plan to eliminate the piracy trade off East Africa's coast.
Militants from the group Hizbul Islam also say they will liberate foreign hostages and ships held by pirates if they find them.

Dozens of Hizbul Islam fighters moved into the pirate den of Haradhere on Sunday. The incursion sent pirates fleeing with big-screen TVs piled into luxury cars bought with millions of dollars of ransom money.

The head of Hizbul Islam, Sheik Mohamed Abdi Aros, said his fighters have found no hostages. Pirates hold more than 300 hostages taken from ships attacked off East Africa.

Somalia has not had an effective government for nearly 20 years, allowing piracy to flourish off its shores.

This thread isn't about how the media "instigates hatred" either bro! I know you are probably a stoner and your short term memory probably isn't what it was but let's try to stay focused here. I'll type slow so you don't miss anything..........T-h-i-s t-h-r-e-a-d i-s a-b-o-u-t S-o-m-a-l-i p-i-r-a-t-e-s v-s i-s-l-a-m-i-s-t-s. :eyesmoke:

Most of the people you'll find here in the political forum know all about the media. This isn't our first rodeo ya know? I was a firefighter for almost 15 years. I worked with the media on a daily basis. I know how often they get shit wrong and as far as I'm concerned local media is just a smaller version of national media. Now let's get back to the topic at hand shall we? ;-)

What is truly amazing is your laughable condescending tone in light of your epic inability to understand what we are telling you.

You refer to other people as sheep, and as not having a clue when you are about the most obtuse motherfucker I have had the bad luck to run across in a long time.

Nothing in the world is more worthy of ridicule than an arrogant moron.

Now kindly confine your comments to the thread topic; or blow.

What's your point? That it's british government propaganda that there's are pirates and islamists in somalia...?

And the BBC is probably the best source of information for what's going on around the world. I also like newshour on pbs and al-jazeera english, although there's some sort of boycott on them in the US...

I read that update and I wonder about the unconfirmed pirate quote in the previous article you posted.
One report citing an unnamed pirate said that a Hizbul Islam delegation had visited the town several days ago and demanded a share of the piracy trade. There is no confirmation.
I suppose time will tell if the new Sheriff in town plans to eradicate piracy, or merely claim his share.

The follow up is interesting because they appear to intend to eliminate piracy.
Militants from the group Hizbul Islam also say they will liberate foreign hostages and ships held by pirates if they find them.
Well, if that's the case, good for them. I can't say much for the tenets of Islam, especially the manner in which its followers treat women, minorities, and dissenters; but if they intend to stop piracy off the coast - good for them. As far as the rest is concerned, it's their country. Their business.

I have to say Islamist radicals. The pirates are pirates due to the overfishing of the waters by internation fishing fleets. I mean they gotta feed their families simehgow. What would I do in that situation I ask myself!
The Islamist radicals are cold blooded killers. THey come into a village and kill all the people who are not muslim and the take over their homes. They rulle with a Taliban style of law and kill maim and beat anyone who deviates.
I like Muslim people and know quite a few muslims. I do not like radical islam and would like to see the end to such. HOWEVER.... I think we as a country are complicit in the spread of radical islam.
We have been killing Muslims for a long, long time..
In the 1911 Phillipine war for independence it is estimated that we killed 1,000,000 phillipinos many of them Muslim., Many of them civillian women and children. The list goes on and on of atrocities commited by us against so many.
I am a veteran and patriot, but that does not blind me to the need for us to change our evil ways.

There is no excusing bad behavior on the part of the pirates as they have been doing this for centuries. Moreover, I sincerely doubt it's about feeding starving families because neither a wide screen television, nor a luxury automobile, is very nutritious.

And yes, the U.S. military was brutal in the Philippine-American War. We were fighting guerrilla forces in a declared war. And atrocities were committed by both belligerents in that war.

At the time, there was a great deal of domestic political pressure to end that conflict. And it was ended. Ultimately resulting in Philippine Independence.

And, not 50 years later the U.S. was defending the Independent Philippines, side by side with Filipinos, against a much more brutal occupier - The Japanese. The U.S. liberated the Philippines with Filipino partisans and guerrillas.

But that is beside the point as Somalia and the Philippines are on two separate continents.

I beg to differ with your non-factual rhetoric in regards to Somali pirates.
FACT 1.. THe Piracy has been going on for less than 20 years. only since the civil war that struck them in 1991. further, you are totally off base in regards to what the reasons they hijack ships.
Fact 2 The hijack is to procure ransom, not to feed families big screen TV's as you incorrectly imply. Fact3 The reason for so many somali's turning to hijacking has been recognized by many world organizations as many fold. of these recognized factors is illegal overfishing by international commercial outfits off somlias coast which depleted the fisheries and doomed the Somali fishermen to starvation..

As far as the Phillipines. Yes guerilla forces fighting for their independence from our imperialist agenda.
Fact: America BOUGHT the phillipines from Spain for $20m dollars.
Fact:In spite of the emergence of the first Phillipine Republic america brutally attacked the phillipinos with a brutal and inhumane," Scorched earth campiagn" An estimated 1,000,000 phillipinos, men, women and children were killed.
FAct: The phillipines was not granted independence until after the end of the war.
I have to ask. Do you actually do any research before you speak on matters, or do you just post what you think without such. Every single thing I posted to present your rhetoric as non-factual can easily be found in a search engine.
