its dwc in a 17 gallon rubbermaid bin. i used the coir plugs an mist them with RO water. they sprout fine. but once the 1st set of leaves show its always a hault.

i used PHed RO water 5.5-6.0. no nutes they didnt grow anymore then 2" tall an had starting minor yellowing. TDS meter was reading 10.1 after PHed.

then i thought well maybe they need some nutes (2 weeks in, only 2" tall)so i added nutes to the rez an i had about 50-70 PPM at PH level of 5.5-6.0. they yellowed even more.

so i thought well maybe not enough nutes(this is two weeks an 3 days later their only 2" still an yellowing leaves) so i added more nutes to about 300 PPM an again PH to 5.5-6.0. fucking even worse.....

so i change the rez back to RO water at 5.5-6.0.. still fuckign yellowing. cant figure it out.

the only thing that concerns me is that i have the PH to 5.5-6.0 an when i get home from work its at 7.0 to 8.0 an i adjust it back. dont think its a bacteria issue but i heard thats what causes a huge PH fluctuation.

im seriously stumped. every fucking time i get them past this stage they rip up tall an look sick af fuck. but 9 out of 10 there herms. an i think its due to the stress in the beginning.

for the set up 4 T5s 54 watts each an have 4 100 watt CFLs... 18/6

rez filled to about 1 inch below net pots an have 2 1foot air stones....

That's an odd one.

Could it be the plugs?

I would try a different growing medium.
I have had great success with rapid rooters.

Yeah, it all sounds good.

I wonder, have you noticed any root damage or low root density from the plugs they sprout from?

on 2 of 5 there was a slight brown tip on the tap cause it was poking out of the plug but not all of em.. maybe thats the problem. they all just haulted not the only 2 with the semi damages root. an as of low root growth id hae to say no. just the 2 with the browning deadish tip.

i 1st keep em in a dome inside plastic egg plate things an mist them till i see the tap the drop em into the hydroton an used straight RO water PHed.. an every time there fucked.. damn it, this sucks lol

Ok, let me make sure I understand how your doing this.

1. Place seed into plug
2. place plug into carton
3. mist with RO water
4. wait for tap root to show through the bottom of the plug
5. transfer plug into hydroton

Was that right?

there like this at 1st
Hmmmm, that plug looks really dry.

This plugs need to be soaked before hand, just to moisten the plug.
You have to keep the plug moist.

Easy way to tell if the plug is too dry is look at the color.

If you have a light brownish look too it, its too dry.

You want the plug to be a dark brownish color.

If a seeds roots dry out early in its development, it can stunt the growth, and likely kill the seedling.

this isnt the grow those ragged an bloomed sick ass buds.... do i need to keep misting them even thos the hydroton get wet an gets the roots?

there is one with a root sticking down about 1/4th of an inch an it hasnt moved in a week plus..

an yes thats what i do

1. Place seed into plug
2. place plug into carton
3. mist with RO water
4. wait for tap root to show through the bottom of the plug
5. transfer plug into hydroton

just recently stopped misting. i was using the sprayer of a bottle using the rez water to wet them

You will need to mist them every couple of hours when the plant first sprouts. Do this for the next day or two, so that the root is given time to come through.

When you transfer to the hydroton, do you then move the pot and plant to the DWC setup, or do you put it back in the humidity dome, and keep misting?

i'd transfer them into the hydroton as soon as they sprout. light kills the roots so that may be what is happening when you wait for it to pop out. just some food for thought...
