Aight I have a loupe. I know I have at least 2 weeks to go as I still need to start flushing her but should I take a leaf off the plant and check the trichomes or a bud?

no , you should look at the buds while they are still on the plant (if possible). a leaf is fine too , you just have to get close to the bud where all the tricks are pouring out. you want to take a good look at two or three places of the plant an if you see 1 or 2 purple tricks in each area then its done.....or has been done for a couple days.

a good place to get a feel for the purple is probably gonna be in that bleached bud. i would imagine the extra light burnt up a bunch of the crystal heads on that bud, so i bet if you look there , there will be a bunch of amber/purple/dead tricks. that part of the plant dont count though, that wasnt supposed to happen.

that piece you was pointing at is a prime candidate to smoke. it really wont make that big of difference where you take it from , long as it aint no whole branch or nothin. an as long as you only do it once.

your gonna lose 75% in water , so i would take a couple pieces or a piece a lil bigger then that , so you at least have a joint. depending on how much you wanna take , i would probably go ahead an steal that bleached bud, just because it has damage on it already.

the best way to smoke it fast is to at least let it dry all the way on its own, then smoke. (if you aint gonna wait for a cure.... i wouldnt)
basically if it drys in one day , it will taste very green an not very strong...... if it takes 4 or 5 days to dry then it will taste alot better an be more potent. (thats where a good cure comes in)

forget flushing , i would give her one more dose of pk an no n , then pick her after thats used up. (a week or so) there is nothing in that dirt to "flush out". if you think you got a bunch of buildup in the pot then a flush might help a lil , but with as healthy as your plant is , she is eating everything you put in there. there is no buildup. just give her water a couple times after the last dose of food just to make sure , but do not flood it out in an attempt to "flush".
in a good dirt like you have the food molacules are bonded to the dirt/bacteria/fungus ect... you cant break that bond with water or anything else.

yeah im planning on filling up its resevoir (1.5l lol) a few times with just plain water for flushing. is a 40x loupe good enough, and will i easily notice the difference in colours in the trichs? i can just see the lil heads on the tips of the trichs. i kinda picked that lil bud already so taking the big bleached bud for a tester is really off limits now then?

i use a 10x (topps) plastic magnifier , its little and very hard to see through but i can manage. so yes your 40x is PLENTY to see the color change. its very hard to see the difference in clear and cloudy , but its very easy to see the purple/amber ones. the amber vs clear/cloudy is a night an day difference so that wont be a prob for you. plus the heads are much easier to see the true color if looked at under regular light vs hid.

how many weeks is she now ? (from day 1 of 12/12)

the prob with picking testers is that the plant focus's most of its energy trying to fix the cut you made , so if you make too many all of its energy is focused on fixing the plant rather then plumping up the fruit like it should be. that can cause a hermie all day. or it can just prolong the fruiting cycle.

my own opinion is that you only took a small chunk and another bud wouldnt hurt much . (specially if the cuts are clean) then on the other hand you are in the plumping stage of flower and you sure wouldnt want to interupt that.
there is a lot of science behind that and all i know for sure is that too much testing can prolong the flower time an even cause hermies. i have no idea what "too much" is though ?

with my own experience , i have picked the whole top of the plant an left the bottom to plump up a lil more for an extra week or so and it worked out fine. over the years im sure i have tested way more then what your taking off her with no ill affects that i noticed.

Yeah I can make out 1 or 2 Amber's but the cloudy/clear trichs are a lot harder to see. she's on her last 1.5l of pk then just plain water until the trichs are 15% amber. Does it take a while for the trichs to change colou? She's been on 12/12 for exactly 5 weeks now! I'm going to resist taking testers now then!

Trust me mate, if you can just keep it together for this last few days/week, it will be an amazing grow buddy ;-). Looking fabulous, has come along way since seedling. I really think this was one strong plant, worth cloning! Keep journals, I would like to see all your grows... when the happen :p

Cheers mate, yeah ill try leave it for a week. the buds have been swelling in places over the last few days, which i assume can only be a good thing! Im going to start cloning after my next grow, hopefully going to clone nyc diesel. Can i still smoke the bleached/burnt bit on the buds or should i just make hash with it? Anyway heres a few pics including the sour cream which i will be looking to top soon!

cant believe shes only been flowering 37 days, but looks near enough there! has anyone had a plant finish so quick before? maybe it has something to do with its supposedly being a autoflower? (diesel ryder).

if its only 5 weeks , you should be able to get at least 2 more weeks if not 4. no species is done in 5 weeks.

i would take a closer look at the tricks , then pump her up with more food for 2 more weeks then chop. thats just my opinion. i had no clue we were only at 5 weeks. i think that is a very high yield species.

Yeah cool, tbf i would prefer the trichs to be a majority of amber. I'll start adding the pk13/14 again whilst keeping a close eye on the trichs. the soil has been constantly wet due to the autopot, which could of sped up the grow maybe? i hope it will produce a high yield :)

i would go back to the regular diet for another week or two. a couple doses of veg food then another dose of pk then finish with a flower diet. the yellow leaves need the extra N in "veg" food before you lose them.

no matter what it will be a high yield. (IMO) i think the whole reason i thought they were farther along was because how big your nugs are an the structure is great. so your diet has been overall great. keep it up!

Not good, I been busy last few days so neglected her a little. I have just had about 10 leaves fall off. I'll add pics 2moro. There are a few more yellow leaves on there but there are a lot of green still. Are taking/falling leaves off her bad?

its not dying just lay off the nutes bro! never feed a baby full stength its a baby.
shes a grown woman now. you might have seen the baby next to her ? she is only a few weeks from harvest if that.

plus you dont wanna "lay off the nutes" when she is losing leaves like that. when its just the older leaves its almost always a N def.
