kang420 i had the same exact problem with 2 bs240's.I tried everything had shit harvest went back to my cmh lights, sold the 2 blackstars. How ever i thought i researched and followed several grows, that looked good,i tried but couldn't come close to 2.5 oz per plant that i am used to.

I hope you figure it out,i guess i was to dumb and impatient. good luck.

It sounds to me that the Aquarium PH was your problem and not enough time has passed for the rebound recovery, Back in the day I too tried that stuff and had the same crap happen (leaves at the bottom jacked) because of that PH. And to prove that PH is hella wack, try dropping a gallon of tap to 5.8 with it then test the PPM. A normal PH down won't raise the number but a few single digits but that crap shoots the number up. Also since it's not soil make sure to baby step the nutes and don't even think of ever going full strength.

My record from 2 plants under 2 Blackstar 240's is 8oz 9.3 grams and that was with a maximum of 550 PPM of flora 3 part. My worst grow was 4oz 6.3 grams - 2 plants, 70 days from seed, but that was in a 55 degree closet with zero air circulation but was the most crystilized sticky bud I have every laid eyes on. PH doesn't need to be exact and nutes need to stay low and be raised up in small portions. Also like I said, if your vegging with them you need to be up high and lower as they get bigger. The spectrum's need to blend all over the plant.

Cheers for the info mate, i am glad to report the damage this morning seems to have stopped, as in it has not got any worse for the first day in a good while, i dont know if its the mh light again or the cal mag and hydro ph down but i hope its the cal mag lol

I dont know what ppm is, but i bought a EC meter to test the water and mixed nutes so i will let you know the results when i get it, this ppm ec ph carry on is all new to me as is coco and canna A&B but i will get there in the end with sheer persistance and lots of help :)

i have seen first hand how fast they grow under led and i am sure if i can keep the nutes right it would be the way to go, but i can see now how easy it would be to say led sucks and walk away but i know its not the led its me

I use White Vinegar and baking soda to raise and lower pH.... all natural baby... never had a problem, and I use 4 Blackstar panels...

By the time my plants are your size, I'm already giving them full strength nutes...

Sensigrow AB
B-52
Voodoo Juice
Sensizyn
cal/mag

Once the ladies are about 4-6 inches tall they get 1/4 strength, next week 1/2 strength, the week after full strength.... sometimes it doesn't even take me that long to go to full strength.... never had any problems with the plants not needing that many nutes/burning...

....except once, during flower..... I gave them Sensibloom AB, B-52, Bud Factor X, Big Bud, Sensizyn, Bud Candy, Cal/mag, and then I topped it off with Overdrive. One of my 8 Ball Kush plants had a mini breakdown... lol

If anyone hasn't tried AN Overdrive I highly suggest it.....

Hey guys i got my ec meter today and tested the water but i think it reads the ec us style i cant figure it out, does anyone know anything about them?

its a 0-9990 us/cm EC conductivity tester and the reading from my water is 250, i thought the meter would of read something like 1.5 not 250 lol what does that mean or how do i work it out?

I thought you had to divide by 100. Which would give you an EC of 2.5. I'm not sure though actually. I'm not into hydro, so someone else may be able to tell you. I use carbon filtered water though because I'm in a very hard water area.

Can anyone else shed light on this? i was thinking it was divided maybe by 1000 and 250 us/cm = 0.25 Ec but i am unsure, i hope my water has not got an ec of 2.5 before i even add nutes!!!

[h=2]How do I convert between EC, CF, & PPMs?[/h]
The solids used in nutrient solutions can be stated in terms of PPM - that is, a ratio of one part to one million of another. The PPM of a solution is routinely been determined by a PPM meter. This device initially takes an electrical conductivity (EC, measured in mS/cm, millisiemens per centimeter) reading. (In some parts of the world, this measurement is called conductivity factor, or CF; the EC to CF ratio is 1:10.)

The meter then uses a conversion factor (usually 1 mS/cm EC=700 PPM at 68°F) to provide a PPM reading. This figure, whether stated in EC or PPM, is often referred to as a ‘TDS reading’ (Total Dissolved Solids).

OK, now in laymans terms:

An electronic PPM/TDS meter actually measures EC not PPM.

1 millisiemen (mS) = 1000 microsiemen (µS)

The PPM figure is a result of a conversion factor (multiplier).

If the meter measures an EC of 1 mS it could convert this to the following PPM figures:

1 * 700 = 700 PPM (This is a 0.7 conversion)
1 * 640 = 640 PPM (This is a 0.64 European conversion)
1 * 500 = 500 PPM (This is a 0.5 conversion)

If the meter measures an EC of 1000 µS it could convert this to the following PPM figures:

1000 * .7 = 700 PPM (This is a 0.7 conversion)
1000 * .64 = 640 PPM (This is a 0.64 European conversion)
1000 * .5 = 500 PPM (This is a 0.5 conversion)

It is therefore important to know what conversion factor any PPM figure is relevant to.

Most nutrients give specifications for PPM using a 0.7 conversion, thus if your meter is a 0.5 conversion you have to convert the recommended PPM strengths to 0.5 or else you will try to run too strong and the plants will suffer.

Lets say you have a 0.5 conversion meter and you measure a PPM of 1100 in your reservoir. Your nutrients recommendations say you need to be at 1500 PPM @ 0.7 conversion. So in this example we divide our PPM reading of 1100 by the 0.5 conversion factor and we get 2200 µS. Then we take 2200 µS and multiply it by 0.7 and we get 1540 PPM @ 0.7 conversion. So as you can see we are only 40 PPM @ 0.7 over our intended target of 1500, not bad, we will leave that alone.

Now lets look at a possible bad scenario. Your nutrients tell you to mix them to 1500 PPM @ 0.7 conversion (2143 µS). Your meter measures using a 0.5 conversion, and you mixed to 1500 PPM @ 0.5 conversion on your meters scale. You now have actually exceeded the manufacturers recommendation by 600 PPM @ 0.7 conversion by running at 3000 µS * 0.7 = 2100 PPM @ 0.7 conversion.

To convert a PPM figure back to an EC figure is a simple matter of division.

for ph, just get a basic one that cost about $5.00. you put a little in a very small bottle and add 4 drops.. screw all those other ones.. they just go bad and cost you plants before you relize they gone bad.. didnt read all 5 pages but did anyone tell you that under LED , you only need about 1/2 the nutes?

Pity you dident read as i am not asking anything about ph and i dont use crap ph strips i have a top ph meter

Ok my lights are off now and ive just made a batch of nutes for the girls when lights come on i will feed them in the sink and allow runoff then back under mh light for 2 hours and back to LED, if i am reading the ec meter right 2ml per liter of cal mag and 1.5ml per liter of a&B gives me an EC of 2.2
and for my seedling with less food the ec is 1.6 hope that sounds right i know its a little high but i dont know how to lower it other than add more water but that would mean less strength nutes?

Couple of pics after feeding, they look droopy but thats only because the lights were off for a few hours, after 15 mins under the light they will be reaching for the sky, as you can see the burning has stopped and its going back under led after 1 hour under mh

Ok guys i need a little help again, what do you think is the problem here? do you think these fan leaves got a little too much nutes or not enough? the tips are slitly burned but am not sure if that was from before, the yellowing has a rust colour on the leave, nothing major yet but i would like someone to weigh in and give another voice. have a look...

I agree on the no flushing, but when things look rough and there are no conclusions...

What type of soil are you using????........can you measure the soil ph for me........would help......and at this point I would CUT back your nutes and just use plain aerated water/see if it helps........i always say the same thing, fresh soil has allot of nutrients already in it.....its ALWAYS better to underfeed than overfeed........good luck grower
