Im currently running a 250W florlux MH. Im looking o get either a convertable ballast or HPS. Im also not sure weather to get 600W or 400W.

My room is a closet that measures 7 x 2.5 x 8 (feet). I dont plan to grow more than 5 full grown plants at a time so I think 400W is alright lumen wise, but maybe more is better, how much hotter would a 600W be compared to a 400W which is an open ballast design by hgt, 600w system I would get is normal remote ballst I guess. Heat is the biggest issue since I cannot afford to buy an ac unit and have that on the electric bill with the light. Posted links to the two light systems I am looking at. Thanks to anyone who helps, I wasted $220 buying the floralux because I didnt bother to look around.:wall:

If you just want the one room stationary light 400w is fine, you can get some ok yields off of that, whatever you decide, maybe you want to have the light run during the night to help on heating issues, please make sure your closet is safe for the lamp you choose though. Thats some nice prices on those lamps, 400w switchable for under 200, I think imma get another lamp lolz.

I couldn't decide between the 600 and 400 either. I finally went with the 400 and couldn't be happier. I'm not having heat issues - and I have the timer set to go off from noon-6pm which is the hotest time of the day round here.

I got mine from HTG Supply...www.htgsupply.com

It came with a heavy duty timer that I can also plug the fan into.

Good Luck

The more Light = More Bud. And if you have a good exhaust unit to take the air out rapidly then it might not be to hott.

sounds like the 400 will do fine, Im not going to be able to do much with a serious exhaust system cause I dont want to damage the woodword, and I do have my light off from 11 am to 5 pm. Thx 4 the input

if go opt for the 600, you will love it, for 40$ more you can upgrade to an easycool6 a/c hood, i have a bunch of those digi's and i love them, although HTG's 400watter is such a solid piece of eqiupment i couldnt fault u for getting it, 400w is good for a 3x3 space and 600 4x4, you can cool the 400w with a cheap 250cfm duct fan, the 600 needs a lil more power, but the digital ballast will spoil you
