Plants are in week 5 of flower and the plant has completely stopped growth. The lower buds are more dense than the main stem, and the hairs are @ 50%. They have been stunted in the same state for about two weeks and have just got worse. This morning i woke up and a few fan leaves were laying on the floor beside my pots. The leaves were fully green and lucious but the stem of the leaf itself is hollow. Other than that my plants are also extremely green almost a blue color its so green. I have been feeding them cal mag, karma, bud candy, and pbp soil formula. Feed every day 1 time, plants are in 1.75 gal pots, the overall plant life of these set of plants are aprx 10 weeks, plants are 30 inches tall. Any ideas????

Hydro or Soil?

If you're in soil, you really don't want to feed every day, or water every day for that matter.

What are your pH levels? It looks like you're getting lockout.

Im in a soiless mix. Readygro from botanicare its 60% coir 40% perilite. Im not sure of my ph in my soil but i hand water my plants and usually ph my solution around 6.3 or so. The pots are full of roots and seems like ever since i let the soil dry out a bit i started having issues.

I know Calcium & Magnesium lock out at pH 6.4 and lower in soil, and I think it's the same for the mix you're using. The way those spots look on your leaf looks like a Cal/Mag issue though. Have you been feeding them with any Calcium/Magnesium? I think that coco stuff needs a Cal/Mag boost more than a plant in soil would. AskEd grows in coco, if he sees this or if you want to try and PM him about I'm sure he could help you out! :)

Haha, sorry, my fault. AskEd is on the grasscity.com forums, which I also visit. He probably doesn't have an account here. If you wanted you could post over there and see if he responds.

To fix a nute lockout in soil you need to flush the plants. I'm not sure if that is the correct course of action when growing in that coco, but I would think that the idea is the same. To flush you need to run 3 gallons of water for every 1 gallon of soil, so if you have a 3 gallon pot you need to run 9 gallons through it. After a flush you should also feed them a little since the flush will also rinse out nutes. On the last gallon that you put through for the flush, put 1/2 strength nutes in. Your water should be pH'd to 6.5 - 7.0 for the flush. You also may want to get some CalMag or another similar supplement if there is no Calcium or Magnesium in any of your ferts.

Again, this is the way I would fix it in soil, but I don't know for sure that this is the right way to go with the coco. Hopefully someone else who uses coco can help out.

Just a few questions I have:
Could the pot size be to small for the size plant causing root bound plants?
With soiless I think you need to ph your water for hydro...5.8 or so?
My buddy grows soiless and he waters when the pots are getting pretty light.

I had a lock out on one of my plants. I grow DWC and I just made the proper nute solution and she is back on track. Maybe do a nice flush of ph'd water only and make a new nute solution for when she needs watered again.

Ya know i thought it might be rootbound too but the plant is only 10 weeks old and started from clone. Maybe they are growing too fast for me idk...as far as ph i keep it @ 6.3. never had any problems until week 3 of flowering. If i do let the pots dry up then i would water every other day but then it seems too dry. I let these pots dry out a bit and then this problem started...should i flush with r/o or tap????

Yes you can flush with tap water, just make sure you correct the pH and let it sit out for 24 hours first to let the chlorine evaporate. There is probably Calcium and/or Magnesium in your tap water which your plant will want once the pH is corrected. Just remember pH needs to be 6.5-6.8. If you go lower than 6.5 you will start locking out nutrients.

I have a 55gallon drum I store r/o water in with an airstone.

Go pick up some jugs of water from the wal mart. Little more to add, my buddy will sometimes let the lower leaves get droopy before a flush. He also uses atleast a 5gal grow bag with about 10-12 inches of substrate and folds the rest of the bag down.

Is your water city water? Are you on your own well? If its city water I would let it sit out(24hrs) so the chlorine/chloramines can be gassed out. If its well water I would just ph it and flush away.

Then do you have another source of water that wouldn't have chlorine in it?

If not you could just flush without leaving it out and hope nothing bad happens . . . and I can't guarantee that it won't. Just make sure you pH it right no matter what source it is from.

I have an r/o system installed but i can only pull out 1 gallon per hour. I also have cal-mag plus at my disposal...

It's up to you what water to use and if you want to use chlorinated or not. I've never tried it so I don't know what it would do if anything.

The CalMag isn't going to help until you get your pH levels corrected, so don't use any of that until you've flushed them out. You can use 1/2 strength in the last gallon of the flush if you want.

Can i use some r/o by itself or do i need to add calmag to it?
