I don't have LED.

It's cool!
I have something to keep me busy, I'm going to help growers that want help in the General section.

If it is allowed under the rules, I am going to start a thread to chat with any of the soil growers that want to show there progress on my thread and talk about soil, watering, nutrients and problems.
Watering and nutrients are the 2 most likely things that will knock out a soil grower from the competition. The other will likely be poor soil quality or soil that they have not used before IMO.

I'm hydrating a few of those plastic 9 oz cups right now with two different soils. One has more drainage. I created a 1/4" hole in the bottom. I'm going to germinate in a paper towel now and on my thread I will show progress and when I water to show how long they will take to dry out before watering again. I'm going to keep it simple. Water only. Might help some of the newer soil growers up there game. I'll pick up some 16 oz too.

On a different note I was an ass last time I was in the LED section in November so I'm not popular here.
If I won it would bring everybody down ;).

What is cool is that this thread is full of the growers I respect and never wanted to insult. I only wanted to mess with some of the other weird parts in the LED section, like the trolls that show up as new members and within 12 posts from being new members they start touting how great they yield with LED and I know it's likely bullshit and they get all kinds of love. It was annoying to me when I first entered the led section. Now it is just entertaining reading.
Anyway, glad I had the right spot to share this in the LED section. A thread filled with all the growers.
I'll sit on the sideline now and watch the show unless I have a question or thought that I think can help.
If any trolls show up in this thread they better bring their cups lol.
Good Luck Everyone!
Maybe next year Dawg!

Way to hijack a thread bro..

Ive got a better idea than the stem, cant tell you guys tho or someone will steal it!

That cat piss and shit in your soil is just extra FREE fertilizer, dont despair! just keep it damp and it will convert into goodness! Im assuming this is organic soil? Unless you are feeding your cat some crazy stuff I wouldnt worry too much about it, maybe just let it cook for an extra month or so....

There was already a perfect amount of amendments any more would fuck it up. It smelled so bad man, if I kept it damp it would turn into a disgusting mess. If it was normal herbivore manure ya sure but not a meat eater, shits full of nasties.

Really I Dont Believe Its Your Place To Tell Other Contestants What That Can And Cant Do Based On Your Interpretation Of The 2018 Party Cup Grow Off Rules. If You Dont Like Them Please Feel Free To Join 1 Of Many Other Contest Thats Currently Going On Within The RIU Community :peace:
Just saying. You didn't say no. You said read the rules and its not against the rules as the way they read.

No reason to not allow it. If it breaks the rules I would like to know how.

All the rules and further explanation of them wouldn't prohibit the use of a tube to make a hempy.

You are allowing tubes and net pots. What's the difference?

Like I said. This is my notice to join the comp.

I've always wanted to do one of these, and I just happen to have a spare, super rickety, mylar covered, cabinet down in the basement. I also recently ordered some cheap, Chinese, leds to replace failing shop lights. For the heck of it, I ordered a couple extra 50w arrays to wire up and throw above the clones and seedlings in my tent.

However, this will be a much more suitable test :fire:

They should be here well before the competition, but let me withhold my entry until I have something more than an idea of what I want to do.

That being said, what's the prize :bigjoint:
I would offer up some beans to throw in to the pool, but I have nothing too rare or unique; all stuff someone could easily acquire. Maybe some of the Bad Dawg Genetics freebies from GLG orders?

Maybe a g from all the losers

Just brain storming here lol
The El Cheapos, or whatever the Pinyin equivalent is, have arrived! All you snobs out there, with your Bridgeluxs, and your Samsungs, and your Crees. Talking about efficiency this, drive current that. Well, I think that this helpful graph from the seller should pretty much suffice for my answer to that jargon.

My lights provide the most beautiful in the world while your lights are less so. I bet you're regretting those Quantum Boards now.

In all seriousness though, I am excited to see if these little arrays are going to be worth anything when it comes to growing a plant. I don't expect much, but we will see. IMAG0450.jpg
Here's hoping they at least light up my workbench.

anyone else growing with a computer? raspberry pi is my dynamic timer. The Uv starts left, goes center, then goes right. With some overlap between the left state to center state transition as well as some overlap between center state to rate state transition. I mounted some blurple, cyan, and green beads which will be wired up by the time the competition starts.

I think ill be adding a piece of activated carbon filter to the bottom/sides of my solo cupto prevent root ball

My light is built with discarded and obsolete parts with the exception of some red and uv leds ordered today cause of contest rules.

@psychedelicdaddi an arduino will be runing my light timing with red and uv.

my cups arrive from amazon today. found only 18ozers locally.

a side note, a folgers 11.3 oz plastic coffee container lid fits almost perfectly on a cup. went ahead and ordered 2" and 1.5" net pots to use for more support. ordered 4 more containers of folgers from amazon too... need the lids, lol...

Way to hijack a thread bro..
I would love to see someone hijack this thread from the Dawg. He does not need your help to police this thread. If I did hijack it with 2 posts I'll take that as a compliment. I won't go back and forth with you here as I said in my last post.

"I'll sit on the sideline now and watch the show unless I have a question or thought that I think can help."

Must have touched a nerve eh Bro!
Go ahead and have the last word and also put your name on the list of entries.
Good Luck!

Just to clarify.
Maybe it was this sentence below that you see as hijacking IDK.

"If it is allowed under the rules, I am going to start a thread to chat with any of the soil growers that want to show there progress on my thread and talk about soil, watering, nutrients and problems."

I have no desire to hijack.

That is to collaborate with soil growers if they want too outside of the competition if it is allowed.

I'm hoping with some other non participating soil growers to help the soil growers kick the shit out of the hydro growers.

Since only 20% make it to the end and I could cross the finish line with a shot glass maybe I have something to offer ;).

I plan on trying to get some other growers to enter but I am not going to @ them just get there attention.

I think I have contributed.
What have you done to contribute Deputy Derp?

I have an idea since you can't carry my water.
When the thread that I created below to bring in some contestants drops off the 1st page in the Organic section, give it a Bump for me.
Thanks!

P.S. Maybe there is a special place for you on top of the list.

OK before I make this dawg I'm within the rules right?

16oz party cup with 1/4" hole in the center of bottom, 1.5" of perlite on bottom, 16oz netcup shortened 1.5" with flyscreen net sides to hold my coco and empty bottom? So the netcup sits on 1.5" perlite with an airgap between flyscreen walls and party cup? The 1/4" hole in the bottom will be plugged till I want drainage? Cheers brother
