Purple stems on the Fan Leafs

I have 6 plants in flower now for 2 weeks. Most of them have Purple stems on the big fan leafs. I am thinking it is a Phosphorus deficiency. Any other ideas? And if it is a Phosphorus Dediciency, Do you think if I add Advanced Gardens Big Bud, it might fix it?

OH!!! And Fan Leafs are DARK GREEN.

should be fine. it may be a definciancy but no big deal unless it's showing signs of dieing leaves. don't worry too much

When a plant has Phosphorus deficiency, it usually slows down growth and budding from what I understand. This is something i do not desire. Some of the fan leafs are also starting to candy cane. And the some of the leafs comeing out of the buds are RAM HORNING.. Sorry I do not have a camera. I will try and buy one soon so I can show pictures.

He's right...If it already made it to the flowering stage then you must be doing something right. Dont bug out...The purple stems come and go. My little sprouts were very purple but then it went away after a week.

If it was just the purple stems I would not say anything. But there are 4 different signs. Purple fans stems, Candy Caned Fan Leafs, DARK Fan Leafs, and Ram Horned Bud Site Leafs. I have a few crops under my belt, but have never had all these things happen at once. And I do not want it to get out of control. This is a nice crop right now. But i know how things can get out of control if let unchecked. This all started since I entered flowering stage.

The dark leafs might be over nuts, but I was only at 1200PPM total in second week, and only 850 in the first week, so this I highly doubt. Maybe this is nothing. I have changed over to Advanced Nutrients two Part A/B. So maybe this is just the way the plants look with this type of NUTS. Time will tell. Tonight I did drop back to watering only 3 times a day, (Hydro) Maybe more oxygen to the roots will help. I did Add BIG BUD to the soup tonight also. 0-10-40 This should raise the Phosphorus. And then next weekend I will pump out the 40 gallon res. and do a good flush with straight PH'd water 3 times a day for 2-3 days, and then start with fresh soup. Maybe I am getting a little Lock-up. All in All, They are budding really nice, and the trichs are already forming nicely also, So I do not want to do anything to extreme as of yet. My first harvest I had a bad Calcium deficiency, and i got a nice harvest out of that one.

I would be so much better off, If i took as good of care of myself, as I do my plants.

Ok, Got a new camera today. Here are a few pictures of what they look like. The purple Stems show up really good in the over head shot of the bud. These plants are 17 days into flowering. I gave them a good flush, and now they are in just Advanced Bloom A&B at 600 PPM. With some stress reliever also. I think should bring them around. Also my Tray is only flooding twice a day now.

This is a Flood and Drain System. The plants are in 6" rockwool, with a 2" coco fiber mat covering the whole bottom of the tray.

what nutrients were you using? What was NPK

Looks like you tried to get away with using your veg nutes for the whole grow to me

I am using Advances Bloom two part A&B. This problem all happened when I added that dam Humbolt counties Bush Master as I said before. I found a thread on another site with people talking about this with pictures of plants that look exactly like mine. Stay away from this crap. But maybe it is something else and it just started showing at the same time. But I think I have it fixed myself, I can already see a change in the last 24 hours. I really hope the turn around. To much time and money invested at this point.

I will post new pictures in a few days and show you all if the get better or worse. I really think the good flush, and the drop to 600PPM with a stress reliver will help a lot.. *PRAY*

My next harvest is going to be White Berry from Dr. Chronic. I bought 10 feminized seeds. Air scrubber here I come.

It appears that your plants are lacking balance nutrients - the purple color is due to a lack of phosphorus.

One thing about your set up or any hydro set up is that it is unforgiving and it's easy to lose control. It has a pros and cons but when it comes to nutrients and hydro set ups you have to be right on it.

Do you have an EC/ph meter? If not I would invest in one....it will help you big time.

My plants seem to be growing really well, but they do have a purplish tinge. Is phosphorus provided by Fox farm neuts? Mine have been out of the seed in four days and the leaves have just opened. Everything is balanced as far as I can see.

Any advice?

Giagemgal, most of the plants that I have ever grown have purple stems when they are seedlings.

I have a PPM Meter, and a PH meter, both digital. These are Northern lights. My night time temp is about 68-70, and day time temp is about 74.

It is sunday here, all the Hydro stores are closed, but I will give them some (P) on monday.

Still this did happen right after I added that BUSH MASTER, and all those other people on the thread from the other forum that used it had exactly the same looking plants. You do have to addmit, they are BUSHY now. They looked so good before I added that crap.

Do you think If I added Big Bud to the mix it would help? NPK is 0-10-40 Phophourus is 10%, Soluable Potash is 40%, Magnesium is 7%, or should I just wait until Monday to get to Hydro Store??

Thank you

However, I got up today and everything is the right color. It was a seeding thing. 5 days and they have their leaves and are just about to kick their muzzle off. All is well for now. LOL

Well. my plants wake up in an hour. I really hope they are looking better. I have never had a plant with phosphorus Deficiency, any suggestions on what to use, and how much per gallon. I am useing Advanced Bloom A&B in there right now @ 600 PPM. Still might be that Bush Master.....

I just took a quick picture with the lights out. For 18 days old the Buds look pretty good to me. But those leafs look bad, plus some nut burn on the tips. Maybe 1,200 PPM is to much for Advanced Nuts. This is what I get for changing brands.
