I quit ciggies in 1997 when I found out I had to have coronary bypass surgery. I was stupid to start in the first place. It's too bad it took major health event to wake me up.

I quit smoking cigs December 3rd, 2008. I had a bout of bronchitis, and decided to see how long I could go without smoking. Prior to this I was smoking 20-30 cigs a day, so a pretty heavy smoker. Since I stopped while I was violently ill with a chest infection, it was easy. I was sick for like 4 days, and after that I just stopped. Started smoking like 3x the amount of wed though...lol!!

I smoked for about 24 years. My diet also sucked and my job was stressful. Plus coronary artery disease runs in my dads side of the family. All these factors led to bypass surgery at age 44. I fell much better at age 58, I'm retired and I can grow legally.

Once I have better access to a reliable supply of high quality a cannabis and i'm earning a bit more, I'll probably smoke a lot less, propbably even completely. I always turn to cigarettes when I have no cannabis to smoke. Bad, bad habit.

great to hear, I used chantix at first but it made me insane ( having crazy dreams, bieng a jerk to people) but i had to do it cold turkey to really get it done.

i looked at my "spending report" from last year and not a dollar on nicotine, alcohol, or caffiene.(all of wich i used to love) had to have saved me 2500 on cigs, 700-1,000 on coffee, and another 1500 on booz. saved a good 4000$ at least. plus the gas driving to the store every day or 2 to get one or the other. its nice to have money rather than scrapeing by. Its worth the couple days of headaches to save that money and feel better all together. The only thing i kind of miss is drinking, made me more social and i loved that warm feeling it gives you. But i stopped enjoying cigs all together.

(only spent 1500 on trees last year too!! i thought it would have been more)

After smoking on and off (mostly on) for about 10 years I decided to set a quit date for the first of February.
The longest I've quit was for about 5 months but I always end up going back to it, I've been smoking again since august of 2011.

The damaging effects it can do to your body doesn't bother me too much, it's the fucked up shit it does to your brain that scares me.

I decided to quit three days ago, still havent had one. This is from 5-6 packs a day, im having massive withdrawls. I almost created a topic about it last night, It is so rediculously hard to think. I've been waking up sore with a migraine, and all i want is a cigg. It fucking sucks.
