Yeah that place is an easy hour away from me. I might be willing to head up there though since I'd love to get more Sour Grapes clones and I've been wanting to try the Mendo Afgoo. If I was to go all the way up there I'd have to get some of the Platinum Bubba too though, just because.

My seeds are always around the same price as what you said too. That's why I've been thinking of using most of them as mother's to get my money worth out of them. I figure if I just grow out the seed, I'll get 2-3oz. If I veg it and then take 8-10 cuttings, flower 6-8 of the best ones, I'll more in the range of an elbow from the same seed. Sure, there's more electricity and time involved but that's all part of it imo.

I'm going to give the clones I recently picked up a few weeks and if they still look abnormal to me I'll trash them. The seedlings I've got going will definitely be grown to a decent size and then I'll take 8-10 cuttings from each, flower 6-8 of the best, hook up a couple buddies and take the rest to a dispensary. There's two near me that'll buy clones so I'll be able to get rid of them. One of them likes to trade for bud instead of paying cash and I'm cool with that too. He's always got some good indicas.

If it doesn't seem like it's working out good for me doing it that way I'll go back to buying clones but I really like the idea of being able to grow exactly what I want and not having to just go with what's available.

There used to be a place near me that had all of the Oaksterdam strains. they had others too but they always had the full Oaksterdam catalog available. That's where I got my original Sour Grapes from. The plant that's almost done now is a clone of that one.

yea the guy that i was telling you about has the sour grapes from oaksterdam. i would love to have a veg room so i can just take the finished plants out and pop the new ones in flower. i only grow 2 - 4 plants at a time so keeping a mother isnt a viable option.

i thought you were going to keep mothers and only take 2 clones from it i didnt know you were planning on selling/trading clones. sounds like you got it worked out well and sounds like a good plan.

Oh, I see. I didn't go back and read the prior posts but maybe I had a typo. I meant I planned on taking a round or two of clones and not a clone or two. They'd end up being in my veg room for about 8-10 weeks before scrapping them and replacing them
with a new strain.

Totally.

I'm getting a bit frustrated today as I'm having a hard time keeping the light from the veg area out of the flower area. I know the simple solution is to put some Pandafilm across the opening that separates the two and stick a zipper on each side but the cheapest I've found zippers that'll work locally is $19.95 each. I know you can get them online for around $10 but you then have to pay shipping and I kind of need them now. I used only one on the old flower room but it was a pain sometines to get plants in and out of the room because you don't get the best opening to work with. I figure one on each side would make it so you could just pick the whole thing up and maybe hook it to something on the ceiling. Then you'd have the entire opening to work with which in my case is 36" wide.

What I have in place now is Panda film that's fastend on the left hand side and across the top so I can pull it out of the way but it doesn't get light tight on the right hand side at all so I have light creeping into the flower area when it's supposed to be dark.

I did take care of all other light leaks this morning so if the veg lights are off it's pitch black inside.

Considering getting a new jamb for the old door and framing in the 36" opening to accomodate the 24" door at this point. Then just draping some pandafilm across the opening on one side of the door. It would be much cheaper since I already have a bunch of lumber and some Pandafilm. I'd just have to buy a jamb kit and I think they're like $10 or something at Lowe's.

That's just more work that I really don't feel like putting into the damn thing at this point.

It was soo much easier to the big setup for my buddy since we started with an empty small warehouse, just framed up, insulated and drywalled each room and installed prehung doors in each one. There's a hallway type walking area that runs down the center and the doors to each room are offset so light leaks from under the doors don't affect the other rooms.

Thinking now I should've just made minie two separate rooms like it was before I expanded. The main reason I went this route though is one big room is much less obvious and just looks like a home office in the garage.

Yeah I may just bite the bullet and go get the damn zippers. Maybe Jack will go easy on me since I've been spending a bunch of money there lately. He usually hooks me up in some way.

I need to pick up some new rockwool cubes or rapid rooters or something for the seeds that I'm germinating to put in the hydro system anyway so it couldn't hurt to ask, right?

yea startin on a wide open slab helps. larger rooms are much easier to build imo.

never hurts to ask. rapid rooter work great but rockwool are cheaper. so its just a matter of prefrence and budget.

ive cloned in rapid-rooters & rockwool my success rate was higher with the rapid rooters but i find that after you get roots rockwool holds moisture better & you can stand them up on their own my next batch of clones are gonna be in rockwool i guess im a little different as i prefer schultz root powder to the gels ive used so far but in a nutshell its all about what works for you it would be boring if we all did it the same way

yea its all about success rate with me. i dont care which product claims to work best i just want the product that gives me the results i want.

I like rapid rooters as well but i find the gel works better than the schultz take root powder but they both get the job done.

I have both of those products and have tried them by themselves as well as together and got the same results no matter which way I did it. Recently I lost 3 seeds in those jiffy pellets so I've gone to sticking them in rockwool after they have a nice tap root on them.

Got the light leak situation handled finally.....by using stuff I already had :wall:. I ended up wrapping one side of the panda curtain around a 1X2 and stapling it to it. Then fastening it on the left hand side with screws. next I taped and stapled a strip of panda to the ceiling about 6" long on each side of where the curtain spans the opening. Then I used the eyelets I had purchased a week or so ago to hold the curtain in place on the right hand side. Finally, I taped and stapled another strip about 6" long where the eyelets screws are so it overlaps.

It may sound complicated but it's just hard to explain. Now when I need to open it I can just stick my hand between the two pieces of panda on the side with the eyelets and take the eyelets off of the screws. I put one additional screw of to the left hand side so I can hang the curtain in the open position until I'm done.

The way it's done, I can just fix the top and right side permanently in the same way as the left side if I decide to put two zippers on it in the future.

Here's some pics of the room and the twin 600s running. The veg room is still a little ghetto but I'll get the T5 hung and that piece of baker's rack will go under the Afgan plants on the table under the 600. The two other plants in the flower room are just there for the pic. They're the SLH and Sour Grapes that I checked today and they're just how I like them so I'll be chopping them the next chance I get.

After taking the pics I installed a circulation fan in the flower area too.

Quick pic update.

Pic:
1. The Afgan Kush girls and the solo Raspberry Cough
2. The 12/12 from seed club chillin' under the 6
3. The autos @ 23 days from sprout under a 150 HPS
4. The future mothers of america club featuring a Cataract Kush, a Headband, a White Widow (clone) and a Jack Herer (clone)
5. The autos again

I'll be transplanting the little one in the token cup into a 1 gal pot tomorrow with the Ocean Forest so hopefully it'll perk up and the yellowing will go away since it's a little yellow.

I've got 6 seeds in rockwool too hopefully getting ready to sprout too that'll be under the other T5 in hydro once they're rooted good.
