Remove damaged leaves?

Hey all,

I had some heat issues a while back, exacerbated by my placing CFLs too close, which ended up baking quite a bit of the big fan leaves. While I've figured out the heat and CFL issues, the damage is done. Some of the worst damaged ends have dried up and broken off, but even the green parts of the damaged leaves feel somewhat dry and papery. While the damage has been done and can't be reversed -- and, frankly, the plant has continued to add weight to the buds -- I don't know whether I should: (a) remove the damaged leaves; (b) remove only the worst damaged parts of the leaves; (c) attempt to treat the leaves (such as a spritz or two of distilled water on the leaves an hour or so before the lights come on); or (d) do nothing. She's almost five weeks into flower, by the way.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

And, just because I like them, here are my other ladies, about two weeks from first pistils.

the damaged leaves do look like hell! there's still a lot of green in the damaged leaves, so i would leave them. they'll be falling off soon anyway. GL

Leave them. If you have the problem fixed they will stick around for a while. I have some damaged leaves that have stayed about 70% green for 6 weeks. Green = photosynthesis, even if a little less with the damage. She'll drop them when she doesn't need them anymore... Typical female lol

Right on, guys! Thanks so much!

I was leaning in that direction, but didn't want to them to be pulling away good stuff that could have gone to greater bud production. You know: the baked mind remembering old, cloudy memories of once reading something (probably while baked too) about something of the sort.

Cheers!

Leave them -- a lot of them are burned on the ends, but there's still active green there. Leave them be. They'll eventually fall off when the plant is done with them.

Leave them alone and don't worry about it. If you really want to worry though worry about your bud but it sounds like that's ok. Question, how in the hell did you burn your leaves with CFL'S? I use to grow with same and never burnt anything and they were pretty dam close.

If you haven't be convinced to leave them alone by now, then there is nothing left to say.
Clipping even half dead leafs off of your plant will make I think it is getting attacked by bugs. When it thinks this, your plant will try to defend itself and not put its energy into growth production.
Clipping will produce a mild shock to the plant and stunt its growth.

Well, see, I have a tendency to be a dumb motherf***er sometimes. This time, its symptoms included thinking, "if a couple inches is a good distance for CFLs, then a couple centimeters would be better!" and not making sure I had adequate ventilation after putting the CFLs into my small (1' x 2' x 3') area, then using splitters for double the bulbs. Luckily, dumb motherf***er-ism isn't contagious, but some of us are afflicted worse than others.

I was pretty much convinced after the first three posts. But that, about the plant stressing over clipping/loosing parts of leaves, makes perfect sense! Thanks for the pearl, buddy!

Im learning to leave leaves....unless you touch them and they fall off! Otherwise you more or less monitor them for deficiencies. I only trim leaf tips that cover bud sites. Otherwise all leaves stay, even if a little nasty. They will brown and yellow up in the end anyway. More leaves equals happier plant.
