I would like my gpw and my gram per foot to be good

Since half my room is fucked as far as being on point for a solid estimate.

Ill be basing my yeilds off my scrog setup which is 3x6

Basically i want to use minimal power for maximum output.

Nice...
The power doesn’t bother me , I’d put 2000w over each 4x4 if it would double the yeild .

Thats what i mean anyone can throw lights in and grow lots

But not many can grow lots with little light :)

I wana push my limits. Then after the limits are pushed then you add more lights

Basically if a noob can hit 1lb with one light
A very experienced grower can hit much more
If that makes sense

Ive done a 1kw hps and a 600 true watt led in a 4x4. That was a great run. But really over 100 watts a sq ft is a waste. Ive done 2kw hps in a single hood also an thats a bright freakin light, but its kinda a waste. Only kinda tho ;)

Had a shitton of buds the size of my arm from my elbow to my finger tip, all bud, no gaps. Thats what the differance is when you use more light. Anyone can do the minimum, its epic to overkill it an pull it off, imo.

Not saying anyone is wrong so dont get angry

i still think its harder to pull more weight with less light but thats my oppinon

But i would love to see any 4pound grows with 1000w :)

Easy to find 4 lb 2000 w grows ;)

If i was using 4 1000w lights id be gunning for 8 plus pounds haha

But i base that off of routinley hitting 2 ish lbs in a small box with 1000w single ender digital

Not trying to start a whole shit storm so please DONT BE ANGRY

But how
Is it that anyone can pull off less light grows?

Please if this was true everyone would be running 400 w and getting pounds lol

To me overkill lights is just to make up for grower skill or max production from good growers

Real skill is measured in gpw and gpf depending on strain
In my opinion.

Any noob can throw 4 lights down and get 4 lbs

Not many i have seen hit 4 lbs per light

Just trying to understand the logic of throwing more light is harder to grow more budd
Lol

Not really what i mean. So this isnt about anyone in this thread really, its more a generalization of a common theme. I commonly see underpowered grows, like a 200 watt hps over a 4x8 on a light mover or something like that, an then the expeactable fail happens. Thats what i mean by anyone can underpower the grow, i just see it all the time here.

There is a differance with guys properly powering the grow, and getting massive yields. Im nkt talking about them.

An the hard part of overpowering for your space is managing transperation, heat, and light bleaching. Mites also go nuts if it get too hot, mold etc. There are problem that can come from a overpowered grow that you wouldnt see in a properly powered one. And you can get some truely epic buds indoor like that.

However i dont grow like that anymore, im a 1k hps over a 5x5 scrog , no reason to impress anyone anymore. Just coastin :)

I def agree with parts of what your sayin 100% real skill is gpw and gpf, i would add some qualifier tho like when talking over a lb. Ive seen plently of tiny grows in yield high ratios simply because they are in the couple oz range, its hard as fuck to carry a good ratio up in weight farther and farther.

If for fun you want to see what i mean just buy a multi socket light hood, i had one with 3 sockets, put 2x thousand watt hps bulbs in there, and toss that in a 4x4. Its a whole differant set of things to deal with and rewards to reap

Ok i kinda get what you mean i just interpreted it wrong

"The whole anyone can do the minimum, its epic to overkill it and pull it off"

Made it sound like anyone with a 1k could hit 3-4 pounds

Is how i read that line lol

Im really easy to missunderstand in person an even easier to missunderstand online. Congrats on 2lbs from a thouie thats not exactly easy. No clue what my 5x5 an thouie will give me but id guess a little less than that this time. I may weigh it up for the first time in a lonnnnggggg time. Been like... 3 years since i used a scale lol

Question for all the growers, hopping someone has looked into this or tried it.
I grow in pro mix, about sick of it, not interested in coco. I miss the less mess of wool. But for how I’m growing , wool cubes from the store would over double medium costs. I just build a new veg room, and using rockwool fire n sound proof insolation.

What’s the difference between this insolation and growing rock wool?

I payed $60 bucks for this bag,
Probably about $500 worth from the hydro store.
So you tried this out with plants yet?i know you said that it was really hydrophobic, maybe try soaking them in lye solution? I knkw jts going to turn jnto a shitload if work if you start doing this type of thing an may defeat the point...

I just reuse all my dirt, compost my leaf clippings and stalks in it and use it again 4 months later. No buying or hauling dirt an give alright results. Nothing AMAZING but im in the stage of reduce all costs an just get by. Its all for me an i dont want to waste a ton of cash to get there

No I scrapped the idea after seeing how hydrophobic it was, not worth the effort.

I reused medium once,
It’s not worth it.

Priced out the croutons, to much $$$$
Pro Mix she is for now.

Lots of good posts in this thread.

I think we can all agree that nothing compares to experience. If you want great results, that will coincide with what you learn and do.

You should consider re-using your medium as much as possible. When done right it will provide numerous benefits.

I think you should find a way to automate watering and use hydroton . It's only a pain to rinse before use the first time and then you can keep rinsing the roots off after every run and re use it. I was using promix as well and didn't mind it but like you said the costs add up. My current flower run in promix is the last of it for me. I was hand watering as well so trust me I know where you're coming from.

When I 1st built this room, I had three 4x4 tables , everything was fully automated, but wanting to run perpetual means 3 of everything, I’m running DE 1000 and you can run out of head room really fast when trying to fit everything. Another problem I have is the plant count, to keep strain & pheno hunting I got to keep flower count low , this mean I got to make xl plants to make up for this . I end up trashing lots of clones n vegging plants after flower runs, tossed 12 today, so I can pop more seeds n keep legal.
If I had more room I could do more , but I just don’t have the square feet...

Trust me I understand everything you're saying and I wish I had the height to run DE but I don't here lol.

I'm in no way trying to tell you what to do just thinking how to cut your workload down .

Of you're staying with promix have you looked at blumats?
