Ron Paul on Snowden

Nothing to worry about, obviously. As Obama pointed out, "there are lots of people warning you about the dangers of an ever expanding government, a government that acts in secret, etc. Bitches, don't worry, we got this."

"“We should be thankful for individuals like Edward Snowden and Glenn Greenwald who see injustice being carried out by their own government and speak out, despite the risk. They have done a great service to the American people by exposing the truth about what our government is doing in secret.”

If you didn't have such a hard on for Ron Paul I'd say I agree with you on this issue.

RP happens to be on the right side of this issue, and he has been since 1984. The fact is, RP has been one of the best politicians on civil liberties; supposedly civil liberties are a concern of progressives, at least they are when a Dem is not president.

Obama has been on the windward* side of this issue and most other issues.

*Which ever way the political winds blow him.

Ron Paul is a misguided guy. Sure he talks the talk when it comes to civil liberties, but he doesn't take into account the toll his pro free market stance would have on those liberties. He's an Ayn Rand cultist.

And the fact that he named his son "Rand" is disturbing.

As for Barack no one likes him. The left hates him, the right hates him. The only people who like him are big business and party democrats.

Ron Paul is actually a 36 year old man from the future. Time travel ages you prematurely.

The left hates BO? Hard to make that case, I think.

An interesting poll that shows what really matters is not how hard you are getting screwed, it's whether your guy is doing the screwing:

In 2006, 61% of Democrats disapproved of NSA spying. In 2013, 64% of Democrats approved of NSA spying. To me, these numbers are even more disturbing when you consider that in 2006 the government was supposedly only spying on suspected terrorists, at least that was the claim. Today, we know that NSA is spying on EVERY American. You Dems need to do some soul searching to decide what is more important to you, Barack Obama or the claimed philosophical foundations of the USA, the constitution and stuff like that.

The main point that can be gathered from your post is that somebody with a different opinion then yours makes them a cultist. Cool.

The digging will stop when it's revealed it started under prior administrations. Book it.
Most people are aware that the patriot act started under Bush. I am surprised that you aren't aware of that. This is your opportunity to say, "Boooosssssscccchhhhh!".

Dems don't want civil liberties in the 21st century, they simply want government enforced recognition of behavior that falls outside of the bell curve of human behavior.

Yeah, everyone knew that the government was spying on everyone in 2006 for sure. That's why it's big news these days.

People suspected. No one knew for sure.

Fuck safety. I'd rather have a >1% chance of being blown up by a suicide bomber than a 20% chance of going to jail.

Whenever I get snowden, I grab a nice cup of cocoa and sit by the window! The wall of snow crowding me leaves me comforted, as if I was in my own little coffin made of ice!

more americans have been killed by toddlers with guns on american soil this year than by terrorists.
Which is what I was saying. Less than 1% chance of terrorist deat the need for increased security does not make.

2 guys kill a few and would a hundred and one of our largest cities is placed on lockdown for a few days. IMO the government did more damage than the marathon bombers.

marathon bomber death and injury toll: hundreds

government death and injury toll: zero

you have a weird way of looking at things.
I'm sure every day in Boston or New York City or LA there are several people killed in auto accidents and other things. People dying is part of life.

What sucks is when the government comes in and shuts down your business for a few days... Or keps you from going to work for the same.

So Boston had twice as many fatalaties as normal for an average day, the ecconomic impact of the lockdown was staggaring.
