Seedling in Hempy buckets, Drooping

Hi.

I have only ever grow with clones, so I'm a bit lost with these seeds.

In the last couple of days the leaves have started to droop, I also think that they might be a little slow?

I am growing them in.
Root riot cubes, which have been placed in pots filled with Perlight 80% and Vermiculight 20%.

I have been feeding them every other watering with Canna Vega at 200ppms, PH6.3

So I am gessing it could be one of these.

1) To much water (Unlikely as i have been carfull and there is a lot perlight in the mix)
2) To Much food
3) Not enough food

Any advice on Feeding Seedling, hemp buckets or what the most likly course of this is would be great.

I will post soem pics shortly.

Thanks.

You cant overwater a proper hempy bucket. You are either underwatering them or feeding them too much. The seedling will be fine with straight tap water for the first couple of weeks. Once they get a good root mass and a few leaves on them, then push them with the nutes.

Cool.

Must be not enough water and too much nutes. thanks for the help.

I just gave them a good water, some have picked up a bit, in the last hour or so.
Not so worred about them now.

Thanks.

pics would be nice..i'll bet under watering as-well...what the age of the plant...no nutes should be used for at least 2 weeks after coty leafs formed....peace az

Here is a pic of the worst one.

Some of the others have picked up.
I was wondering, As most of the roots are still in the root riot cubes, could over watering be an issue if the cube got to wet?

Thanks.

They are still looking a little droopy, but are picking up, hopfully once the roots reach the bottom of the pots the problem will go away.

Sorry to say this, but I am only growing the mother in the hempy bucket the clones will go into DWC or Ebb and Flow.

That said all the other girls out of the 9 seeds will be grown out in full, in the hempy buckets. I am looking forward to seeing how they proform

Well great post and I am looking forward to knowing more about Hempy Buckets. Now Im thinking one of them curlly CFL's equal to 100 Watt of whut Henry Ford invented..then you got the clamp on light fixture which is 6 bucks at Wally World. Think I seen a grow like that today. Oh yeah..you dangle them lights down toward the plants from upstairs..cept a few on each side. Now is this hot or cold? Thanks. Them HPS and MH lights lure up cops I heard. I'm actually trying to figger out how to build a propa bucket when you get time. Thanks.

Just a correction...you CAN over water a hempy bucket if you water too frequently (Especially depending on the media you are using). You cannot over water it in a single watering cycle because of the drain hole. I made the mistake of watering everyday...and you can actually over do it.

Thnaks.
Yes I think it is over watering.

One try had dryed out and they looked happy and the other was still fill of water and they looked very droopy.

I stognly recomened that you don't buy those CFLs.
Never miond the 100Watt equivlant, that number doesn't mean anything.
At the moment beacuse they are not i there final buckets they are sat in trays.
OpenDNS <--- You can probably find them cheaper and closer to you than this site but take a look.

The only difficult things is that they use a Fat 1" screw in socket, but I would recomend getting a reflector anyway, and these will hae the fitting attached.
If you want to grow with CFLs, get a "Grow CFL". My seeds are under a 125 Real Watt CFL. this is great for the veg stage. If I was going to flower I would get a 200Watt Red specrum one as well.

It is actually cheaper to buy one of these than multible small bulbs.
I have drained it off and will see how it goes.

I think it may depend on the medium and the size of the plant... I use 100% perlite and now that my plants are bigger i have to water everyday

Yep.

I think the Root Riot Cube is holdinga lot of water. once the roots are well astablished out side of this cube the problemw il heopefully go away.

I am in mostly perlight.

I will be testing out a new method of hempy bucket at the same time, nothing speacil.

Im using normal pots in a Tray.
I will fill the tray up with Grow rocks (to stop algue growing) and the pots with perlight (Maybe 1/2" of grow rocks in the bottom of the pots to help water flow. I was also thinking of putting wholes in the sides of the pots so that the roots can grow into the trays, just so they have a little extra space.
The idea is that the tray will be the rez.
At first I will only fill the tray a little of the way up, enough to last 2 days, as the plant gets bigger I can increase the amount of water in the tray. I can also easly see how much water the plant is using.
I will let you know how I get on with this.

God damn.

They are looking worse than ever.

The 4 Papaya are looking good.

But the 5 Ice plants are looking really unhappy.

The meduim is damp not really wet just damp. there is no water in the trays. so it's just what is in the meduim.
Whats going on?

wish I knew dude, this is the first hempy problem I have seen maybe AZ or lumberjack will chime in.... I am using 100% perlite so I am not having this issue, maybe try watering around the seedling and not right where the plant is perhaps your cube is holding alot of water, I used rocwool and I made sure to water around and not on top

Yes. I think that could have soemthign to do with it.

I will PM one of them and ask them to take look.
It's strange that the others are Papaya are doing fine. The only thing diffent was that there seemed to be less water in the Papaya tray this morning.

hmm something is defently wrong....what the difference between the plants that are growing fine an the ones that are not...other then their different strains...looking at your description for some reason those one hempys are retaining to much water....also your plants havent rooted outside the cubes yet...this could be one problem if you can pull out the plants that are fucked an see if the roots have made their way out yet...if not is their anyway you can crackopen the cube to lossen the roots...i plant seeds directly into the perlite so i dont have this problem but i know lumberjack like to break his rw cubes up a lil so the roots can get out easyier....try this an lets see what happens....peace az

Thanks.

So we deffinatly think that it is over watering?

The ones that are good sem much more perky, the leaves are sticking out nicely and they look Happy.

Yes the plants have rooted out side of the cubes, They were origanly in smaller 3" pots, when I repoted there was just about enough roots to hold the perlight in place while I potted up.

No noticable change yet, but I will keep checking them untill the morning. hopefully as they dry they will pic up.

Do you agree that I should try to avoid watering the cube, Maybe I should try bottom watering?

Azgrow

Well-Known Member
no i would continue to top water..i would just add enough to get the mixture a lil damp...can you see the plugs cause i know with rw cubes you need them under the mixture...peace az

hmm. Really, okay this could explain something.

I potted up the ICE and my now ex girlfriend potted up the Papaya, She beffered her cubes while mine where kind of at serface level.

I will berry them now and see if it helps.
I will report back in the morning with updates.

Thanks for your help.
