This plant is so damn weird I have never seen anything like it. Temps were really high 86-91 for about 10 days.. got them down to 75-81 now (today).. Humidity has always been between 22-31 %... under CFLs right now about 1-2 inches from each side... I have only given it a good watering once (2-3 days ago, seemed to make it worse).. and I have sprayed it almost every day (probably a 1-4 tablespoons)..

Why is it closing up and pointing straight up? Anyone have any ideas.. I have no idea what to do? Could it have been the heat for the last week? Also seems very small for 12 days..

looks like heat stress!and the position of ya lights sounds wrong!and also coz theres wood chippings in the soil, that can slow things down coz roots cant grow quick enough!it blocks there path and can cause other problems!

I have a y splitter so they are above and too the side.. The chips came in the soil MG Organic.. But your saying heat could have a lot to do with it? Should I feed her some nutes?

no it dont need any nutes at that age!yeh i personally think its heat stress!maybe the lights a little too close!the temp sounds a ok now but the humidity is very low!young plants like more humidity so try and sort that!untill then spray the plant with pure water!and keep spraying a little water on it when its dry!

Is that a fuckin wood chip i see there? If you cannot afford a decent soil or setup then you won't be able to afford good crops... (at least thats from my experience)

It was the most expensive soil miracle grow sells.. We don't sell that premium shit by me (fox farm, black gold etc)..

edit: it's a blend of all-natural, organic ingredients: sphagnum, peat moss, and composted bark fines.. that shit was already in there what am I supposed to do hand pick every piece out?

Is it possible to recover from this point, or is my baby going to die a horrible death. Please tell me it's possible for it to still live!!

i would add some perlite to yout mix. not just a little bit but about 2-3 parts soil, 1 part perlite. let your little seedling grow a bit and develop a root ball. aftert they have a tit bit of substance...then you can transplant to something that has a lot more perlite.

the perlite helps get air to the roots...helps with increasing yield in soil grow

nothing is lost, jjust a little tlc

Ya I'm pondering transferring it right now I just don't want it to die.. I got temps down to mid-high 70's, and moved them so there is light 2 inches away in each direction.. I just hope it recovers.. I check on it like every 30 minutes. I'm just worried if the low humidity (never over 30%) is a problem?? I will give it a few more days and see how it goes.. How often should you water a seedling this size?

its also got a purple stem so it could be heat stress or huge temp variations.

Also the light needs to be further away, a good 4" at the moment.

Ya there definitely have been huge temp variations.. I will throw it a couple inches further from the lights.. thanks for the tips! keep them coming if you got them!

i will have to say that you need to add aeration and regulate your temperatures most of all... I mean it might just be a shitty seed.. You can restart your grow with a pure perlite peat moss mixture. Balance your nute PH and then simply use that as a soiless grow medium. You'll be good either way.. Just add aeration. The seed looks like it was born a little retarted though.. Ive had some seeds grow beautiful and some just don't do it well.. Kinda like having retarded babies and having geniuses.

I have no more seeds so restarting is kind of out of the question... Is it to late to transfer this baby into a mixture of a 1/3 or so perlite? Would that help?

Your an ass....

That soil is fine ive grown some happy little ladies in it. It comes with all those wood chips and everything in it.

It is actually a very light and airy soil.

The seed is not "retarded" something happened to that plant and I cant tell what it is.

your humidity should be around 50-60% so its way to low right now and your temps were to high.

temps are now stable around 75-83... I have tried a few methods of increasing humidity with very little success. I guess I will try and search out a cheap humidifier.

the more curled burned looking leave is in result of thinking it wasn't getting enough light so I moved it like 1/2 an inch away and it had a minor light burn on the tip..

For one thing, I just don't understand what makes people want to spend money on soil like that. 5 bucks will get you a bag of topsoil, a bag of peat moss, a bag of perlite and a bag of vermiculite. And you won't have all that bark crap in there. Shit, if you want to save an extra dollar, do away with the topsoil. It's called a soil-less grow and it works wonders.

Second, those little circular leaves are just seed meat. They only are there to help the plant survive its first few days and then they die off.

Third, from the way the pictures look, the tip of the leaf was too close to your light. In my experience the leaves are pointing up in that fashion because they need a higher humidity than what you started them out at.

And fourth, where are you recording your temperature? Near the lights or near the ground? That stem is looking a little too purple, usually resulting from a cold root zone or poorly aerated root zone.

Hope I've been of some help to you.

My thermometer is almost as tall as the cup the seedling is in so I just put it right next to the cup under the lights to gauge temperature.. Is that not right?

Also how could I go about aerating the soil since it's already in there and I don't really have the option to transplant yet.. I didn't realize the bark would be such a big deal.. I realize the circular leaves are just food, but I also heard once they start to yellow you should begin feeding nutes? Any truth to that?

Anyways if you could help me with aeration, and humidity those are definitely my two main problems right now since I fixed the temp and light situation... Humidity is hard cause its so dry and cold where I am at right now (been -2 / 20 Fahrenheit here the last week or so).. Should I just aerate it like the dudes do when they come and do it to the grass just poke some holes in that shit?
