Looking good slabhead!! I think this is the most extencive guarilla grow I've seen.

IMO the male garden is great idea. You have it far enough away that you don't need to worry about them polenating on their own. And you have a good supply of high quality seeds for next year!!

That's pretty warm!! Were I'm at it's going to be in the lower 80's for maybe the 6th time all year. Do have trouble with them burning? Do you end up needing to cover them?

cph, the worst part is wearing full head to toe camo in the heat tending my various plots. The plants certainly handle it better than I do, LOL. But I start mine in the sun so they are used to it. I've never covered anything over the entire plant but they have to have a good thick layer of mulch or the soil will dry out and bake. This is really kind of early for these temps more like August than June but the weed is thriving so I won't gripe too much, LOL. <although it sucks when my underwear and socks are sopping wet > It just motivates me to get out there a bit earlier and tend to them before the heat sets in, like right now it's 94 feels like 101.
Thanks for swinging by, slabhead

Hey Slab...I'm subscribed to your grow this year. I just got done reading your last year's grow and this year. You have alot of experience under your belt and I'll hopefully pick up some of the tips/tricks your up to this season. I am also growing outdoors this year, and the weather has NOT been cooperating well. 2:14 ratio of sun vs. rain. Sucks. But I hope the summer will bring us good weather. Check out my album and let me know what you think.
I'll be in touch!

I bet that's hot!! Full camo in that weather, it's worth in the end though isn't it?:bigjoint:

I have a different climate overhere. Today it's overcast and has rained off and on. That doesn't bother me thou, it's the fact that it's 78 deg with 80 humidity. It feels like you can cut the air with a knife it's so thick.

I'll be watching:peace:

Why thank you Jonboy, Growing outdoors certainly has it's challenges but the rewards are so great. Having experience helps but also being open minded to try new things and think outside the box. I couldn't imagine the resource RIU has turned out to be with help from the gamut of experience here. I hope my little journal helps inspire you or at least gives you an idea about what it takes to put in an outdoor grow. Thanks for joining in, it should be fun. slabhead

I certainly do enjoy it. A labor of love you might say. I love the herb and the life.

Yep, that humidity is a bitch. But the ganja loves it.

Stay tuned and enjoy the trip.:bigjoint:

Dammitt, I had a bunch of the babies eaten last night. That sun was just too hot and drying them out too fast so I moved them into some shade. I rolled an old hayring over them but the bunnies just hopped through the lower rails and nibbled. I think I still had about 30 left. Oh well, the perils of outdoor growing.

oh shit! I sure hate to hear that about the watermelons. That's one good thing about growing remotely. My dogs would be right in there digging in that nice cool dirt. My biggest is 100# and can move some dirt.

Dang franco that dog wants some weed. Ya don't reckon he's jealous of the attention you seem to be giving the plants over the pooches? Good luck on getting the message across before he destroys everything.:fire:

This is something new to me actually. I've learned a lot of stuff right here from rollitup searches and reading fdd's advice. I'm collecting the pollen from individual males into glass jars dedicated to each plant. When I decide to select a mother I'll use the paint brush method to apply pollen to select branches on select females. So really I'm kinda treadin in new water here. But I feel like with the knowledge I've gained and my green thumb I might hopefully breed some delicious new strain right out of slabhead's very own garden. LOL
Anyway, it oughtta be fun. I've already got a few females looking exceptionally well.
