Whats up everybody, Its been a while since I posted on this site, currently testing LED lighting, so here is the setup:

Plants

1 x Purple Cadillac (clone)
1 x Grand AK (clone)

Nutrients

Undecided

Soil

Fox Farm Ocean Forest

Lighting

1 x 300 watt LED Panel (Don't know who makes this my friend had a couple laying around so I figured I would give it a shot)
2 x 150 HPS (for supplemental lighting during flowering)

Odor Control

Undecided

Area

36 in Wide x 27 inches Deep x 6 ft Tall (Closet, Purchased 5 - 84 x 64 inch Mylar disaster blankets that I'm going to be covering the walls and sealing off the door area with)

Ive grown with HPS, CFL and T5, now its time for a little LED action, most likely going for SCROG, honestly Im just excited to be back to growing again!!! So anyways I picked up the clones from a local dispensary, they were well rooted in rockwool cubes and I saw no signs of pests or mold.
Thinking of vegging for 2 months then flowering for 2-2.5 months. Cutting clones once the clones have branched out a bit and their root system is more developed, I will be topping the plants several times and weaving them through a screen in order to hopefully produce multiple main colas. Any advice is greatly appreciated as I have not grown with LED before. I have been watching a lot of videos and checking out a few journals, now its time for something to call my own. Here are some pictures of the setup so far, its in the very early stages but I could not wait to have all the items I needed for the entire grow before I started. Thanks for reading and enjoy the ride!

well I guess your off on a good start, will follow this if you keep updating it, use a 600W but is considering to switch to LED in the future ..

I guess I don't have to tell you to make the flowering room/tent light proof, will you use that room for the mother/clones and the tent to flower in ?

So it's day 2 since I transplanted the clones into the fox farm, the grand ak's leaves were slightly droopy this morning so I added another cup of water to the soil, I'm sure the droop was just a little shock from the change over from the t5 at the dispensary to the LED, otherwise things remain the same. I have the option to add another 300 watt LED if necessary. I think I'm gonna skip out on the tent, I ordered a package of 5 - 48 x 64 in Mylar disaster blankets for 10 bucks that I'm gonna surround the growing area with, as for your question Slippon, there is a shelf above the growing area on which I am gonna keep the clones, I do not plan to keep a mother of both of these strains, I am planning on crossing some strains with my all time favorite The Church from Green House Seeds, this led grow is just a test, been looking into odor control and the Ona gel bucket looks interesting. Anyways that's all for now, will update regularly, with pictures once something of note happens.

Ok so, its day 3, I've left out a few small details, I started the LED light about 24 inches above the canopy, currently we are at 17 inches and by the end of week 1 it will be 1 ft away. Both plants have received exactly the same amount of water, 3 cup. The Purple Cadillac's leaves are reaching up towards the light but the Grand Ak's leaves are a little claw like at the moment, Im sure its just week 1 transplant stress. Here are some pics of the two girls.

No, I have 300 watts on 2 clones and the light is over a foot and a half away so they are definitely not dying. Look at the purple Cadillac clone, it's reaching for the light... Constructive criticism accepted, but read the posts first, I said I have the option of adding another 300 watt.

Day 4

So far the clones seems to be doing well, one of the larger leaves on the bottom of the Grand AK is dying, but the new leaves coming out of the top are actually starting to grow so this is a good sign, I am gonna let that leaf yellow out a little more so the plant can pull all the energy from it and then trim it off. The soil is still damp 1 inch down so I have not added any water today. Looking into nutes still but I'm not going to add any for at least 4 weeks since everything that I have been reading says the FFOF soil has plenty in it already. Mylar Blankets should be coming in the next 2 days so ill be lining the walls and sealing off the door, I have not had to turn on the 150 watt HPS lights because the exhaust coming out of the LED seems to be keeping the temperature just fine, gonna pick up some trellis netting and a Thermometer/Humidity gauge from the Hydro shop tomorrow. As far as odor control is concerned, has anyone used the ONA bucket method and how well did it work? Any other thoughts on cheap odor control?

Day 5

So I took off the little bottom leaves that were starting to yellow last night, lowered the light down to about 15 inches from the canopy, fed them both 3 cups of water, and when I woke up this morning, the Grand AK had grown almost a full new set of leaves and the Purple Cadillac had started growing a new set so I'm thinking that the Grand AK has finally gotten its roots out and the Cadillac is well on its way. Looking forward to some explosive growth in the next few days, lights will be lowered to 12 inches from top of canopy and the Mylar should be on the walls hopefully by Friday. gotta buy some string and lattice netting ASAP, gonna top both plants in 10 days and start some LST in preparation for some SCROG. Here are some pictures from this morning, enjoy!

Day 6

New leaves once again, they really seemed to like the lights being lowered so I moved them down again this morning to 12 inches away, about to head down to the hydro shop, I'm a day late on doing that but I wanna pick up some ph test strips to see the level of the tap water here. Tracking for my mylar says it should be delivered today woohoo! off tomorrow so I'm gonna be spending a few hours in the grow closet. Happy Growing Everyone, will update with new pics tomorrow.

Day 7

So depending on if the mylar comes in today I'm gonna be doing some work in the grow room, I'm wondering if its too early for me to bend the plants over some so that light can get to the secondary growth, the stalks seems flexible enough, there has been a lot of new growth so I am sure the roots have set in, I just don't wanna stress them out with another change after only be in the dirt for a week. rope lattice is in so Im working on idea of how the attach it to the walls so that its sturdy yet removable at the end of harvest. Anyways, more pictures later if the mylar arrives, if not, Ill wait til tomorrow, hope everyone enjoys their weekend, hopefully there will be some advice/comments from people who have done this LED thing before.

Day 7 continued

Day 8

So as you can see in the pictures below, the Grand AK is responding extremely well to the LST from yesterday, the lower growth shot up over night, I am experiencing some claw leaf, I am almost 100% positive this is due to high PH of the local tap water. I ordered PH test strips and some PH up and down, hopefully it arrives by next weekend. I watered both plants with 64 oz of tap water, trying to flush the soil a little in case the fertilizer that is already in the FFOF is too high in Nitrogen. I can never find a definitive answer when searching the causes of claw leaf, the strange thing is its really only one pair of leaves that are having the claw-like characteristics to the leaf. No mylar has come in yet unfortunately, I guess ill have to wait and hope it comes in on Monday.Topped the Grand AK today we will see what happens. Like I said this grow is just a test so here goes. Thanks for reading.

Quick Update

Turned on one of the 150 watt hps on the side that the Grand AK is on, things are getting a little chilly here and I need to keep the temp up to par, especially since I just gave both plants a lot of water. Most likely I will turn on the other HPS tomorrow so that both plants are getting LED and HPS, I want to top the Purple Cadillac but I gotta at least let it get out one more set of leaves. I must say that the 150 watt HPS seems a lot brighter than the 300 watt LED panel, just gonna keep growing and see what happens.

Day 9

A little over the 1 week mark and things are looking ok, both 150 hps are on now, still having the claw leaf problem on the Grand AK, the Purple Cadillac which is in the same soil, been fed the exact same amount of water is not having the claw problem so I don't have a clue whats going on. I'm anxious for my ph test strips to come in, that is what I feel the problem is. Not watering until the test kit gets here because I dont want to do any further damage and need to be able to balance things out right away when I get the right equipment. Growth is great but these little problems get me worried. Anyways, here are some new pictures.

Day 10

So I continue to see new growth, I got to put up one of the mylar walls today, but I have to go to work so the rest will have to wait. Some strange things are going on with the Grand AK, getting some spotting and extreme clawing on the leaves. Its still growing rapidly but I wanna get this problem worked out before it becomes more damaging. The room temperature is staying around 74, the hps is 12 inches away from the top of the canopy, led is at 8 inches. Ph test equipment should be in very soon but Im just having a hard time believing that its the PH since the problem is only happening with 1 of 2 clones that the exact same thing has been done too as far as water/light etc. Anyways, here are some pictures of the problems Im having with the plant and new pictures of everything else.

So pretty much everyone agrees that it's a water ph problem, setting some water out to sit to evaporate any chlorine etc, in preparation for watering in 5 days, getting a ph meter on Friday to accompany the strips and ph up/down. Happy Growing!

Day 11

so there has not really been any change, my leaves are still damaged on the Grand AK, no damage done to the Purple Cadillac, purchasing some distilled water, my tap water contains chloramine which I blame as the culprit for my problems, possibly gonna pick up another clone, very sad about the AK because I love how its growing, not gonna kill it off but I feel like the harvest from it is going to be severely altered.

Day 12

So all the new growth on the Grand Ak is perfect, no blemishes or spots, burnt leaf tips etc, Im guessing the ph was balance out a little by my last watering, I bought 2 jugs of Crystal Geyser Natural Spring Water which is tested with a ph level of 6.93. Im going to let it sit out for the next 24 hrs to make sure any of the small traces of chloride evaporate before using them, the oil is barely moist 3 inches down so I should be good to water tomorrow, I wanna hold off til Friday so I can get my ph meter but that is totally dependent on if the plants start to droop or not. Here are some pictures of the girls in and out of the LED/HPS light. Been doing a little more LST to try to get those multiple tops, the Purple Cadillac seems a little hesitant, it just seems to want to make one main cola, I topped it last night so we shall see what happens in the next couple days. Thanks for reading!
