so I have the 1Gro wireless weather station which works great. I've been wondering -- do they make something like that you can basically monitor remotely?

the ideal situation is I'd be able to check on temps/humidity in my tent just from a smartphone

I just came across a product called Netatmo yesterday that does this, but I think it has some compromises. Post if you try it, or find anything else that allows remote monitoring.

Very cool + very expensive! I'll take a look around and see what's out there myself as well

I have the greenhouse master controller with similar computer access to the room but no mobile app. So I downloaded TEAMVIEWER 8 for FREE on my pc, phone, & ipad. It allows me to control my computer with the devices. Remote desktop. I have the grow room computer hooked to my living room t.v. so I can check from there also. So now as long as i have wifi connect I can check the room & adjust everything from the ipad. I'm working on adding a wifi camera in there now.

as said above, just setup a remote desktop connection. Microsoft even has it's own app for use with mobile devices. So long as your computer is on and connected to the internet, you can check your grow from anywhere in the world.

I plugged mine into a laptop in the room thats dedicated always on for that. (cheap one). The laptop has wi-fi built in. I have that hooked to the wi-fi in my house & a remote desktop app on my Ipad. I can control the Laptop & Greenhouse controller with my Ipad from anywhere in the world I get a signal.

Another way, a little more intricate is to setup an Arduino and it can tweet or text.

Botanicalls is one slightly modded variation [although it really only monitors soil pressure].
