I am amazed how you or anyone for that matter can be all for the legalization of cannabis (yes I am all for that) but still feel that someone should be put in prison because they choose a different substance than you. Do I condone the use of heroin, pcp, or meth? Absolutely not, just like I don't think someone should drink gasoline, but if they want to pour a glass and take a few chugs, who is anyone to tell them that they shouldn't be allowed to.

Don't get me wrong, you have every right to defend your family and yourself if you are in that situation, and I take it that you've been in this situation, and PCP is illegal, so being illegal for someone to posses and use, hasn't actually protected you from someone on a bad trip. All the entire war on drugs is, is a huge waste of money. Money that could be used to help people who are actually addicted to these substances and return them to being productive members of society.

Eitherway, I would march with you, but to get the plant 100% legal, back to the way it used to be (how potatoes are today). Not any of this for medical use only, like Amsterdam, or possesion of under an ounce malarky.

You do not get laws changed by participating in illegal activity. You introduce bills, have petitions signed, get Politicians involved and eventually get Congress to vote on it. That's how you get laws changed in the USA, either that or you have trillions of Dollars in wealth and just buy the politicians.

Constant pressures of NORML supported Smoke Out Rally's on The Commons in front of The Statehouse has worked to get a ounce and under decriminalized in my state. You can only receive a fine of $100 dollars which they don't even bother to give you. We have issued a Marijuana Tax Stamp and will soon have medical marijuana on the ballot. It was illegal for Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks to protest (in some places too, and they got hosed, bit by police dogs, and not to mention assaulted and arrested) but if they did'nt I would still be at the back of the bus or drinking from a separate water fountain, so don't tell me about protesting. Legal or not there is strength in numbers!!!! Sometimes you have to make people take notice and swell your numbers before the taking on of petitions and so forth. Why take a month getting 1000 signatures when there can be a smoke out rally with press and media coverage and you get 5000 in one day????? which petition would you rather have. :hump::hump::hump::hump::hump::hump:

I agree protesting is a good thing!!! It just isn't how laws get changed, it might be a good springboard to get attention, but the only way to actually change a law is to go about it the correct way. Im not against protesting, but in and of itself will do nothing unless you change the Constitution so it says laws can be changed by large groups camped out on the Lawn.

Are you serious? Protesting is protected under our FIRST Amendment...it was the first inalienable right bestowed upon us by our founding fathers in the constitution. We have a voice, and we have every right to be heard. And while protesting does not change laws by itself, it does garner awareness, and that is the beginning of change.
