May just pass on rapid rooters then and use the small cups with my regular soil and germination method then. Thanks for the heads up!
Be sure to poke a hole in the bottom. I found it much easier to just set them in water and water from the bottom.

Joe, man I didn't know you'd never done the rooter like that before or I would have warned ya. I had the same problem, so went dirt in the comp.

That's just it, I actually have done seeds in rooters before, and they worked out fine. Just something I did different this time, maybe putting them in the cups did it, not allowing the moisture to evaporate off as quickly or something, maybe I got a bit over zealous with my spray bottle.

I think at this point I've fucked up seedlings just about every way possible...I'm running out of ways to screw that up.

So a little update.

My seedlings have recovered and are rooting nicely. One Ghost Cake might not make it, I'm giving her time to either live or die on her own, in the meantime I have another going to replace her if need be.

My blunder has set me back by at least a week, but that doesn't matter... I'm just glad I didn't kill all my seedlings, that would've been an expensive mistake.

I'll have a picture update when I transplant to solo cups. I'm thinking that will happen as soon as mid-week, possibly next weekend. Play that one by ear.

A bit of an inauspicious start to the grow journal. :bigjoint:

Ok. I think I'm pretty much back on track. Plants have been moved into 18 oz party cups and given a half-strength feed of Mega Crop and a dose of Recharge to get them started.

Still not much to see, and way smaller than they should be at this point, but they'll catch up quickly enough.

First off, here's the Ghost Cake I wasn't sure was going to make it. The first leaf set suffered a bit, but she soldiered on.

And all 13 in red cups.

Back row, from the left: 2 Cannarado Kitchen Sink, 2 Cannarado Sundae Sunset, 1 Cannarado Nilla Wafer.
Middle row, from left: 2 Cannaventure Arcata Skunk, 2 Dankonomics Black Triangle Cake, 1 Cannarado Nilla Wafer
Front row: 3 Dankonomics Ghost Cake.

So that's where we're at right now. Things should be pretty much by the numbers for a while now

I started some veggie stuff today. Way behind on that, as usual.

Right now I have cucumbers and peppers started.

Cucumbers are a variety called Harmonie f1, a parthenocarpic (all female flowers, no pollination necessary) variety that grows 4-6 inch, fine spined and seedless fruits that are delicious on their own and pickle nicely. Grew them last year alongside 4 other varieties and these were my favorite.

Cucumbers will be grown in coco and trellised, I will grow them single stem style, pruning off sucker branches as they come, to promote vertical growth and minimize bushiness.

This is the Harmonie cucumber.

For the peppers, I have 2 each of poblano, hatch and a jumbo jalapeño hybrid called numex jalamundo. I've never had much luck with peppers, but I'm going to try again.

The peppers will be grown using the Kratky method of hydroponics, which put simply is a dwc with no aeration where you let the water level drop as the roots grow, thus maintaining a pocket of air at the top of the reservoir where the roots obtain the oxygen they require, from there any reservoir top offs will maintain the air gap. I know it doesn't sound like it'd work, or that it wouldn't work well, but I had tremendous success last year.

Quick little update.

The girls are out of their funk and moving along. The little stunted Ghost Cake is doing her best, and I'm confident she'll catch up. On the garden front, my cucumbers are mostly up, waiting on the peppers and started some melon seeds today.

Everything looks great!
I've been getting my garden plants ready, too.
Wow, I didn't know you had dank genetics for vegetables, too.
