sog flowering instantly!!

I was reading a very interesting post were you take clones from a mother plant and after the clones are rooted you don't veg but instantly flower.
You use a small pot and in the end, you get 1 big bud that weighs 1 ounce dried. I was wondering would there be a major lose is thc content?

yup you will still get the same potency. just like gardenman said you will just get less bud per plant cause they will be so small.

SOG is sweet.. but its only convenient and manageable with hydro or aero. ebb and flow is perfect for SOG IMO. an aounce is a high estimate though. shoot for 1/4-1/2 ounce each plant and you might be happier with the results.

why such a little yield man. If he's using quality lights than he'll get qaulity yields. If he's using an hps (depends on the wattage and amount of plants) than he'll easily get an oz each plant.

all depends on the setup and all the other variables.

well I am using probably a soiless mix. Probably promix. I will be using alot of full spectrum t-5 fluorescent tubes. concidering he used a 400W MH yields for 6 plants ( 7 ounces of bud dried) alot of t-5's should work great. The room with me covered in mylar. Black pearl is actually a %70 sativa/ 30% indica cross. Sativa's tend to root alot faster then indica's.
I believe with this setup and the properties of the black pearl 1 Ounce a plant isn't unreasonable.

i dont know. i guess an ounce is def possible but with no vegg time i dont see how an ounce is possible. with a week of vegg def more likely but still stretching it. but hey if you can do it go for it. sounds like a great plan. how do you like the t-5s? im running 2 600w HPSs and am interested in getting some of those t-5s cuz of heat. good luck.

true sativas get real tall, not the best for sog eh?

are your 600s vented?

yes sativa are tall billy bob and usaully not well suited for sog but for some reason because of the genetics black pearl is quit suited and viable. Because it is a sativa it seems to not grow out like a indica though. You need to veg only to root I believe. I have heard 8-14 days is the time it takes for a proper root system to grow. Concidering this plant is a sativa 9 days would probably be fine. t-5 are almost as good as hps I have heard.

yeah, they both have inline fans venting the air out. air is around 80-85 degrees. not too bad but id like to get it down a bit. but for vegging i have my mothers in a separate closet which isnt vented so t-5s might be better.

t-5 are great and there are 2 different spectrums so you can switch for blooming. Or just have 2 of one spectrum and 2 of the other and its concidered full spectrum.

true, i have my 2 600s vented and they lights stay ice cold. i can have the leaves touching the glass and not worry. my temps run about 68-75. i hear alot of good things about t-5's but i doubt the light penetration is anything like an hps.

hey billybob, what kind of fans do you use for your 600w'ers? do you also vent your room? sounds obvious but what cfm fan do you have for your grow area? basically, how long does it take to vent your room? im having a little heat issue. sorry for robbing your thread btw.

I would say it my research they compare close to as good as a HPS but with less electricity use.
if possible I would use a hps for the best growth but I don't want any real change in the power bill.

how many watts do those t-5s use anyway?

nevermind, they say nearly half the energy usage of a 400w HPS for a 4' 4 bulb. so not too shabby.

i have a 270 can fan pulling my 2 lights. heres how i have it set up. carbon filter-duct-light-duct-light-duct-fan-duct to the attic. i have half of the carbon filter in the room and half out of the room. i odnt like to continuoudly suck lots of air out of my room cause i have a/c ducted into the room and ive noticed the vent system sucks all the cool air being placed in out into the attic, thus raising my temps.

4 foot are 54 watts a bulb and 24 watts for 2 foots.
