Sun Cloak Multi-Strain

When I set up this time I screwed up on plant placement. Went by height & growth characteristics. Uh duh! Some are done earlier then others.
So I took the Flo & N.L. & moved them up. Gonna leave the Afghani behind the AoS & crawl back there to chop her.
Now the shorter Sensi-star n Sno-D are in the back.
Northern Lights has such fluffy white ballllz. Like lil cottontails. image.jpgimage.jpgAce of Spadesimage.jpgFlo. Can't get her all in the pic. She's crazy jumping into other bays no matter how I tie her. I like crazy bitches. image.jpg

Vegging nicely. Having the light close w/ even coverage really makes a huge difference. image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgClose internodal spacing & compact growth.
Bout to clone up the AoS for she seams to be a winner in the yield & quality dept. I'll also thin out the veg so they can focus their energy to where it's needed. Maybe top these clones to. Was thinking about letting them go straight up this time though. Undecided. Maybe just the shorter strains will not get topped. Didn't exactly choose the propper strains for the next Cloak run. Allot of shorties. This time they'll be getting only a 4-5week veg. Some less, as they're just getting planted from the cloner now.

The even coverage is the future eh... it really makes a difference. One day for fun I'm gonna build a grow box that is completely lined in these smd type LEDs :)

...I mean you've almost already done it here with the combination of overhead coverage and then the suncloaks down the sides. I love this setup man. There is so much bonus yield to be gained by adding side lighting, and it doesn't really need a lot of power down there. Badass

Agreed. There's allot to be said about side-lighting. When I put T-5's on the sides of my HPS grow, the yield increase was so much that as soon as I saw the Cloak, I jumped on it.
One thing I like about this system is when I get new strains, just putting one in tells me most of what I need to know about that strain & lets me know if I want to clone it again or 86 it w/o having to dedicate a huge amount of area on a strain I'm unsure about.
The even coverage provided by the strips is awesome. I see why you went that route.

Had to get the SS higher up so snapped a quick shot along w/ a Flo brach unfortunetly. Should be fine though. Staked it. SS is a nice cola plant genetically & one of my favorites I've had for about 2 1/2 yrs. She gets mega frosty & is referred to as a white bud because of it. Gave her a lift n tightened her up a bit after the pic. image.jpg Gotta something cool to show you guys tom.!

and you be careful with your sprays and stuff. we wanna see you get to the finish line

update

the 70 w strips being made are too "watty" for the verts SC style...unless iu nderpowered them immensely

they will how ever work 10 to an over head frame 700 w total driven at 450-550..that should rock

ihave clear co ver enclosure samples to test..but until i get VEE mounting it will not work for SC applications well

next [small] production run i may go for 30w strips and under drive to 20w or less for efficiency

under powering 70wsure would be efficient..i may do one sc style test to see

and will say upfront... may save dough and get a diy SC i can afford

but i CANNOT touch the class of the SC and never will***

but DIY is dang fun

The 70w strips, are they maxed out @ 70, like past the 75% mark? I mean, if you ran them @ 35w would that be 1/2 their capable load & just right for growing eff.
If that's what you mean, then the 30w ones would be perfect @15w vertically.
I got the new designs. Haven't even opened them yet but can't wait.
Big Shout out to Doug over @ SunCloak for staying innovative & making a great product.

yes thanks Hybrid t..i could get 30 w made and run at 15..like the sc vert bars..it appears good enough for them ..

and running the 70w at 35 is probably a better idea..i just wanted to get closer to 500w for the over hed panel
to try to compare to a 1kw hps.
.i guess i could use more strips.. like 15 over a 4 x 4 area

15 @ 35w would be perfect for 525w over the 4'x4' or 4.5'. I think that would be a good 1000 hps competitor.
SC went w/ 480w over the 4.5'x4.5' area. Curious myself to see how that would compare.
Feel free to post us pics of your strip action. My threads are pretty open for you guys to share. @MrTwist1 too, I know you're rocking strips.

Yeah I've got COBs and strips. I still like COBs if you have the headroom, but strips are my new favourite for sure, because of the even diffused light. Samsungs have better connectors than Bridgelux. I still think strips for side-lighting is one of the most under-appreciated methods around right now... why not turn that popcorn into nugmeat!!
