Been thinking about this for awhile now and can't decide on what to get. Have so many ideas but can't decide on my first one. I'm a really bad procrastinator and I'm having a hard time picking my first one to do? I know I'll be getting more after the first one but for some reason I've been putting it off!

Was it a hard choice for anyone else's first or is it just me?...lol

What was your first tat? Any regrets?

My last ink is one of those regrets. I was manic at the time and ended up with a big piece of pornography on my back. I'd look at lots of ink on line and pick out an original design that suits you. Good luck.

This would take too much splain'n

What do you like? What do you want from life?
I would stay away from portraits.

Pay specific attention to spelling, grammar and correct wording.

I like good tats on other people.
Any time I think I want one, I look into my wallet and then
lay down until the urge passes.

i like the giant back piece that says 'no regerts'. fucking priceless.

as for tats. NEVER get a name unless it's your kids or they are already dead. VERY VERY bad luck. never met someone with a gf tatto who's name matched the one their wife goes by... hint hint.

NEVER get an anchor tat anywhere but lower legs. the lore is something along the lines of you can tread water if your feet sink, but if the anchor is on your shoulder/arm/hand/neck you're gonna go down head first (as in, you will eventually die drowning).

never let a boyfriend/girlfriend tattoo you. never get a portrait (they DO NOT last long), and NEVER EVER EVER be afraid to tell them to STOP THAT FUCKING SHIT RIGHT NOW!!!!! if they fuck up. small fuck ups can be blended, fixed, or covered. a 8x16'' tat that is fully done with almost every outline blown out is a lifetime scar that you get to explain for the rest of your life.

and tattoo removal really doesn't work. you can lighten it, but you'll always have scarring, and discoloration, and the only real thing you can do is (again) cover it.

why do you think black out tattoos are 'so popular' now? too many people have 'regerts' and 'ragrets'

Watch Ink Masters on Spike TV.
It's my favorite show.

Dave Navarro, one of the shows hosts and judges, talking about his own tattoos.

sleeves aren't anchors (although they can have one in the theme), so i don't think that applies to the superstition... ;)
There's a superstition about closing tattoos around limbs. It can trap your spirit, or you'll lose that limb in a future life, other crap, depending on where your from. It's probably because it's hard to wrap a tattoo and get it to line up correctly. My guy broke up my wrist bands with flames and made sure to break any lines so there weren't any complete around my arm. His choice, I didn't care either way, and it didn't change anything enough to matter.

i agree. a woman that i was at one point in time married to was a tattoo artist. tried to apprentice me... the problem is that she was 'apprenticing' more than one guy at any given time, so the enclosed thing is moot (cuz that fucking wedding band sure didn't work...) lol.

my first tattoo was a gift from my shipmates after 9/11. we were locked down, restricted liberty, and the boys got me my first tat for my birthday. it's not great, just a blown out armband, but since i'm one of only two of us still left alive, i'm very proud of it :). you can't buy memories like that at any given random time, ya know?
